I ordered this $19 108-bead Kikila bead tassel necklace (Amazon ASIN B0DST3N5F2) because I liked the way it looks in the Amazon listing. Did I say 108 beads? Well, that's what the listing says, but I counted 109. Why is that? Well, that's because the bead on the tassel is the one and only "guru" bead (or "meru" bead).The 108 beads in the main body of the necklace are to help you count your mantras or breaths during meditation, although in different traditions they may have different spiritual meanings. This type of necklace, used for mantra repetition, is often called a "japamala." "Japa" refers to the repetition of the mantra (or sacred sound), while "mala" refers to the string of beads used to count those repetitions. Therefore, "japamala" emphasizes the use of the mala for japa, or mantra repetition.The Amazon listing says the japamala beads are tourmaline, and these beads have shades of black, pink, brown, blue, green, cream, and multi-colored tourmaline.I weighed the necklace and tassel at 92 grams (about 3-1/4 ounces). Each bead is separated from the next with a tight knot, which the Amazon listing says "helps in meditation," where it does keep them in place so that they won't move around.Given the necklace has the mandatory 108 beads, the necklace is unusually long and non-adjustable, so you might want to double it up when casually wearing it. You can also wrap it numerous times to use as a bracelet. The colorful tassel threads appear to be securely fastened. It comes with a burlap bag to keep it together, which is nice so that the tassels don't get caught up with other jewelry in your jewelry case. The Amazon listing says it comes in a "Jewelry Gift Box," but I considered the box just OK. Not bad, but nothing special if you're giving it as a gift.Overall, I love the look of this mala bead necklace, and the earthy natural tones. I chose the labradorite stone necklace, it has that tiger's eye sheen to it that is a pearly reflection. The color of the stone is quite dark and is mostly as pictured the picture did not pick up the pearly rainbow reflection (which is usually present in authentic labradorite and is not as much as I would like but it's there). The necklace can be worn as a large accent or during prayer and meditation. If this is authentic as it claims, they are quite pretty and each stone necklace has a different meaning which is on the second photo if you want to know their therapeutic uses for those into stone therapy. The length is quite generous and will fit anyone. Makes a nice gift for birthdays, Christmas, Valentine's, white elephant gift exchange, Mother's Day, and more.Each bead on the string is hand knotted so they are not coming undone, even if it breaks they are not going to fly everywhere, you may lose one bead if this happens. It would take some time to repair or restring, which I am known to fix up anything in my collection if I have the means, especially real stone beads. I want to let people know that red turquoise is dyed howlite, there is no such thing as red turquoise. The rest look like they match their stone colorings. You can take them to someone who knows rocks and minerals to know if they are real, imitation, or dyed.Great price, looks real, I am not a gemologist, but I do some research for FYI.

I LOVE this mala. It has a lunincisent blue shine, especially when wet, which indicates that it is genuine labradorite. The quality of craftsmanship is so superb that it really stands out. It is very durable due to this, but the tassel is rather long and sometimes frays.

This necklace is great to own either for fashion or spiritual purposes, or both! It is beautifully crafted and truly looks wonderful in real life. The craftsmanship that has gone into this piece is truly incredible and is nice to have around, especially with the beautiful colors of the natural gemstones. Though I don't wear this as a fashion piece and use it for other reasons, it would be an incredible statement piece. You can get creative with styling it. Recommend.
