I've seen a lot of these sort of kits over the years, ranging from great to garbage, and I'd say this one is pretty good. There are a lot of useful items in a small package, and they seem to be of decent quality. While this kit is no replacement for proper planning and packing, it's definitely a worthwhile addition to your backpack

Like the headline says, it's always nice to have these things around, just in case you might need them. Get a few, keep one in a closet, toss one in your trunk, just have some around. It never hurts to be prepared for a bad time.
