This is a 2-piece cover plate. There is a plate that gets screwed into the wall, and the top/outside plate snaps onto that plate. Much better stream-line look and no screws showing on top. The taupe was a perfect color match. The plates need to be separated for installation and it is a bit hard to get them apart.

I am replacing 33 wall covers in my house with Lutron Clara wallplates in taupe to match my wall paint. The single gang plates were on sale for $6 so I purchased 20 of them first. Didn't need to many triple wallplates so I paid full price for them. Haven't found the doubles yet at a price I'm willing to pay as prices run from $50 to $80 apiece. On the other hand, I was able to get Junlit 20Amp 30W USB Wall Outlets and Elegrp 20Amp 20W USB Wall Outlets for $10. The photo shows a single and triple lutron wallplate next to the wallplate installed by the builder.

PROS: The "Midnight" (black) wall plate looks great (haven't seen/used many other colors) and once installed looks very clean - no screws, etc. Definitely an upgrade from "standard" grade wall plates.CONS: The fit of the front plate to the backing plate is extremely snug and snapping the cover plate off requires some care and patience (and no long fingernails) Of course you should only need to do this once but if you resort to a flat blade screwdriver to pry the front cover off, be careful not to 'dent' or scratch the plastic base with the screwdriver blade.NOTES: I've noticed pricing on these things varies widely (from $5.00 to $11.25 each) so it pays to shop around. We used these wall plates for all switches and outlets (13 total) in a "media room" with dark wall paint and found that we had trouble finding the light switches in the dark ("Midnight" is right). So we swapped out the 3 midnight black switch plates for the Lutron Claro Stainless Steel plates but kept the midnight black wall plates on the AC power receptacles. Problem solved (and the Stainless steel plates combined with the midnight switch mechanisms look great too)OVERALL: very satisfied
