The guide rails themselves are fine. The replacement split guards that they're selling are terrible! They don't stick! I cleaned up the rail, there was no leftover adhesive. I even warmed the strip a bit the second time to try to relax the coil. Peeled off every time. I ended up using some CS glue to get it to stick but even then it'd peel off in the middle. Don't buy the replacement splinter guards here!

Installed this week on a Makita guide rail w/ a roller. The original strips are a flexible rubber, whereas these are rigid plastic that wants to coil back on itself. Adhesive tape lacks durability. Both ends of strip immediately began pulling away before use. Have to keep pressing down before each use. Poor performance. When I finally gave up and pulled the strip off to replace it, it easily left the adhesive tape clinging to the guide rail. The tape took *no kidding* 30 minutes to scrape away with generous amounts of GooGone solvent. As a pro carpenter, would NOT recommend.

This item will not be repurchased. Doesn’t stay stuck to the adhesive on either end. Poor quality, guess I should have tried better quality.

I bought the POWERTEC 71656 Splinter Guard Replacement Strip for my PowerTec saw track. Took off the old strip and rubbed-down the new strip repeatedly (after removing the white no-stick backing) and a half-hour later, about 4" of the strips had released from the tracks at either end. Heated the strips with a heat gun and rolled the strips down again with a stainless roller - same problem with the ends detaching (albeit less than before). Finally just put a strip of Scotch Blue around the tracks at either end, which at least made the tracks usable.I noticed that there seemed to be a strip of some sort of secondary adhesive at either end of the tracks when I removed the old splinter strips - it'd be nice if PowerTec included that secondary adhesive with the replacement strips. As currently delivered, you WILL have issues with these strips curling-up.
