This may take some trial and error. Overhead flip up cabinet doors. Used two on larger doors, one on smaller doors over bed. To install, slide out the metal retainer clip on both ends of strut so you can easily check door open/close fit. It's a bit of a struggle with a screwdriver. Mount upper adjustable bracket first about 1 1/4" in from edge of door and 2 1/4" from "hinge end" top of door), with the bracket toward center of door. Note, must check clearance when door is closed, yours might be different than mine. Install gas strut onto the upper ball (need to hold it on the ball), and push the door open. I held it open with my head, you may need a helper. The 6" are not long enough to go more than 90 degrees, which worked fine for me (would need more stroke). Then install and hold the round lower ball onto the gas strut and align bracket inside door frame and mark a hole with a pencil, keeping the round base tangent to outside of cabinet frame. Remove strut and install screws. Reinstall strut and check open height and that door closes, watching the strut compress as it closes. Should have about 1/4" rod exposed just as door closes (don't want it to bottom out). The door may close on its own with only one strut attached. If need be, adjust upper bracket or move lower bracket and try again. Once satisfied open and close works properly, push the metal clips back into correct position in strut and install strut permanently onto ball brackets, rod down. Pretty hard press and snap. Measure and take notes of screw placement to make other installation go easier. Repeat for other side if necessary. Good luck!

Works perfect for custom camper cabinets. Ordered 2 sets, one shock was bad (leaky). Amazon sent a replacement ASAP.
