I bought this to use as a prefilter to keep my canister filter cleaner longer. I had to reduce the hose size for my Aquatop Forza FX5 to accommodate this prefilter, which decreases the efficiency of the canister a bit. In additon, when I first got the unit, the lower valve was broken and I had to order a replacement valve at my own cost, as contact to the mfg was not answered and I ran out of time to return. Build quality is lacking, as the unit is really cheap plastic. The clips fall off every time I take it apart. This is primarily because the unit develops a vacuum that is really hard to break to open it once it's been used and there's no good way to grip it to pull the lid off. Because the valves are so fragile, you definitely can't use them for any sort of leverage.A way of detaching the valves from the housing would be helpful so that you can stop the flow, remove the unit, clean it, and then reattach without having to re-prime your filter. Unfortunately, the lack of detachable valves makes the unit more trouble to service than the canister filter itself, which is what I was trying to avoid.

Tried to cancel order 30 minutes after purchase; tried 3 or 4 after that. Got the return approved, return cost as much as the product.

This is a great designed filter. All the bulk head fittings have gaskets and the the ball style valves are smooth functioning. The brackets (2) allow for spacing between the intake and output portions of the filter allowing for good flow of water without clogging. At the price point it was the exact fit I needed for my Nano Paludarium (2.5gallon). I always try to over filter my tanks but it can get difficult with nano size and this filter has the smallest in tank presence while providing great filtration. Also the seller has quick response times with the focus of customer satisfaction and service. Overall great all around and for my next nano tank I’ll be getting another!
