This is a fine little unit, that can mix up various liquids and powders well. But it's not going to mix up heavy, viscous liquids - it does not have the power to do that kind of work.I have some water-based wood dyes that I am working with. Think "water colours" in terms of how viscous the paint is. It is not like a can of paint you purchase at the big box store. For this purpose, it works great! I mix up small quantities of the colour I will be using, partly because of storage limitations. The paints come in simple power form, which is much easier to store.I read that some reviewers were concerned about the USB connection. I have had this problem before with USB connectors. After I have replaced sockets in units, my solution now is leave a cable attached to the unit. Without the connections and removals happening all the time, the sockets will last for a very long time! I would suggest doing just that - connect the cable into the stirrer and just leave it plugged in. Disconnect the power from the other end. Problem solved. (As a side note, I tested my theory and discovered that you can place the unitThe unit is very light weight, which suggest to me that the motor inside is not an extreme heavy-duty unit. It is more for light duty work. In fact, if you actually use this little all up, you probably need to upgrade your next stirrer, to a more heavy duty model.Bottom line - Decent quality for a light-duty stirrer. Easy to use, safe in terms of low voltage and a good "first stirrer" for any young, emerging scientist!
