Initial Review:This item was purchased to use as a transfer pump to move water out of a large storage vessel into a fire suppression trailer. The pump itself is fairly light weight and compact. Attaching a garden hose on the discharge side was quick and easy. The power cord (6') is too short for most applications. Submersible pumps should be made available with 15'-25' cords as optional. This will save having to heat-shrink wiring connections that are going to be submerged in water.I am powering this pump with a 12V car battery. During testing, this worked fine and output from the pump was satisfactory. I did not do a flow test through the 25'- 3/4" garden hose, but I would guess it was about 15 gallons per minute.Looking at the "user manual" in the Amazon description is comical, but more seriously, not very informative. For example it says:"Forbid idling:please do not keep the pump motor idling more than 1 motor which may damage the oil seal. "This probably means "Don't run the pump without water for more than one minute as doing so could damage the mechanical seal in the pump". Or it means " don't run the pump for more than one minute against a dead head (no discharge)". But who knows with this translation.I will try to update this review after more usage.Hope this helps.

One would think a submersible pump would be able to handle, you know, getting wet? Not so with this little gem which turned to rust in days and became completely unusable after just a handful of uses over a month. Screws rusted, casing rusted...surprised they didn't find a way to make the plastic rust. Junk. Unless you are looking for a one-use disposable submersible pump, in which case this may be exactly what you want.

I should listen to the other reviewer. This pump clearly can't handle wet environment. Why would you use steel screws for something that goes under the water ?And it can barely lift 10ft !!!!!!

Overall, this pump works pretty good for moving water around in a remote pond. There is an ok length of cord on the unit, but for my purpose, an extra 10ish feet would have been nice. I hooked it directly to (3) 100 watt, 12 V solar panels. I was surprised to see it work with just one panel. I am not sure if the max height is accurate or not but I can say it looks like it moving about a gallon and a half per second on a sunny day with a height of about 3 feet. The screw fitting looks like it would work with a regular garden hose, but that just doesnt fit right.

I switched my 110V Pond Pump the minute this pump arrived. I tested it on my 2 100 Watt solar panels, and it went to work immediately. The pump never failed. It's orange handle shows up in the bottom of the pond, making it unprofessional for the pond. It is a little bulky, but it saves me money on electric bills and stuff don't get jammed in the pump as much as my pond pump. Sadly, it will not work at night or as soon as the sun goes down, it stopped working. I'll add a battery in the future. The most down side to this pump is, it is not a brushless pump like my petco pond pump. This pump will eventually wear out and stop working in a year or a few year. I'll have to keep replacing it. But compare it to my electric bill, I will have a lot of money.
