I had a very poor experience with an Amcrest NVR many MANY years ago, and relentlessly targeted them for their failures. The CEO contacted me directly and tried to reconcile, even sent me a couple free cameras. I kinda balked at it because it didn't fix the NVR problems, but I was impressed by these two cameras he sent me. This was like 10 years ago. I now EXCLUSIVELY buy Amcrest cameras for use with blueiris. Both those cameras are still in operation today. This camera is no different. Just excellent. I'm most impressed with the night vision on this one. I notice that this one stays in daytime mode even after dark. The colors are incredible, and doesn't switch over until it absolutely needs to. Meanwhile, I've got one of those 10 year old Amcrest cameras in my garage and even during the day with light shining into the garage, it stays in night mode. Not sure why. This new one excels.Just bought another one to replace an older outdoor one that gets hammered by the sun all day every day, and has been in place for years. IR lights failing and it's time for some 4k.

I called Amcrest because I was having problems with two of my cameras and I talked to Rodney M. and he knew exactly what to do, the cameras were up and running before you know it, he knows his stuff.

I liked the fact that the camera is POE and has a lot of configurable options. This includes an RTSP stream for live viewing, DVR recording and works with multiple clients. However, the camera has no microphone, thus no audio in the stream. I didn't realize it did not have audio when I purchased it, and there's a model for about $20+ extra with a microphone, but I found that I did not necessarily need audio for this particular camera location.

These Amcrest IP5M-B1186EB-28MM cameras are well built and offer acceptable image quality, but the price difference between these and the newer Amcrest 5MP cameras that offer:- (Most importantlly to me) Audio as well as video recording- Some form of AI compatabilityI personally would recommend skipping these, and purchasing the Amcrest IP5M-T1277EB-AI, the Amcrest IP5M-T1277EW-AI, or better yet the two packs which are the Amcrest 2PACK-IP5M-T1277EB-AI and Amcrest 2PACK-IP5M-T1277EW-AI part numbers. These are more or less a "closeout item," but at a very NOT closeout price.Other than the lackluster price -vs- features, however, the one I bought has in fact worked well for 3 months in an up-protected outdoor location, so far.If anything changes, I will update this review to reflect that. If nothing is added, then it is soldiering on faithfully, or, I kicked the bucket. :)If you find my review helpful, please do take one second to let me know. I'd appriciate it.Stay safe!

I have a bunch of HKvision cameras that I have used for years because they work great with Blue Iris software. The problem was they were twice the price as the Amcrest bi;;et cameras, so I decided to get them a try. The first bunch I bought worked surprisingly well and are still working just fine. Then the end of 2023 I bought a couple of more Amcrest cameras. One I installed in a window that I don't expect much to happen so I'm not always looking at it so I didn't notice that it didn't act the same as my other Amcrest cameras and all of the other security cameras I have.In Blue Iris I can use the digital Zoom to zoom in and scroll around in the zoomed mode. You lose resolution if you zoom too much since it's digital and not a physical zoom, but it works and comes in handy. I noticed that I was getting a loss of signal icon on this camera even though it was showing movement and it was recording in Blue Iris. I started looking closer and I found that I couldn't zoom in or out with it. So I did a reset and it started working again. For 30 seconds. Then the loss of signal icon would come up and I could no longer zoom. If I went into Blue Iris and made a change or even just saved the current config on this camera when the camera image came back it would work for 30 seconds and then no more zoom. I found the 30 seconds was the watchdog timer and when it hit the 30 second threshold of loss of signal (even though the video signal was still coming through) the zoom no longer worked. I played with the settings and did some google searches and evidently this started happening a few firmware updates ago. My cameras running July 7, 2021 have not problems. The camera running March 25, 2022 or newer have this problem. I updated the two cameras with March 25, 2022 or newer firmware to the latest release but that didn't help at all. And of course Amcrest does not make older firmware versions available online so I can get one from 2021 and see if that fixes the problem in the newer cameras. For other software or if you run your cameras where you aren't able to digitally zoom them, they will probably work fine. But if you plan on using these bullet cameras with the Blue Iris software and do use digital zoom, it won't work any more or at least I or a number of other people have not found a way to get it to work again. Maybe a future update will fix it. I could send the cameras back but but since they work ok other wise, I'll save them for locations that I don't need the zoom so much. I can still digital zoom the recordings if I need to look a bit closer, so all is not lost. Unfortunately, I probably won't be buying any more Amcrest cameras, even if they are cheaper unless I find a fix or find out it's been fixed.
