Use C Clamps to hold metal together while you put screws in place; much easier; perfect fit for my 30-33 gal barrell feeder

Built an auto chicken feeder from a 55 gallon barrel and the feed after about 6 months would start to stick and develop a static and stop feeding. This has solved that issue and now feeds pellets constantly twice a day.

Two Wildgame Feeder built; 20 and 30 gal. Behrens trash cans for feed hoppers. Fowled up 20 but recovered. 31 gal. can required little alterations. Two cuts for 20 gal. and single cut for 31 gal. hopper funnels. Both 20 and 31 gallon Behrens are corrugated metal cans ; leaving gaps for fine grain particles to pass behind funnel; to spoil behind and below funnel. For a gasket, I used 1/2" split sleeve wire loom, of the collapsing screen mesh variety. Attached outer lip of loom (~1/4"), with hot melt glue, to inside perimeter of funnel leaving balance of loom to fill valleys of corrugated metal on the outside on the funnel. After loom attachment, not a 1/16" gap remains. 20" funnel requires 4 1/4" on the perpendicular to outer circumference, cut on the radius, removed.And, each 20 and 30 gallon funnels will requite a portion of metal removed on the perpendicular to center. The round steel metal has a slice of the pie removed, at the start. One side of the absent pie slice section are two lines of six 1/8"d rivet holes; one row of holes for 50+and the other for 30 gallon hoppers. On the opposite side of pie slice one line of 1/8" holes. Eventually another slice sheet steel should be removed to avoid reshaping the center from a round hole to a Rugby foot ball shape. That removed slice will be between the two nearby row of holes, close to the 2nd row (20/30 gal).The trick to drawing the two desired lines of holes together easily and rather quickly are a short length (24-30") of 1/16" wire rope and a crimp-on thimble or electric wire terminal. Small vise grips and a pair of small/2" C-Clamps are a great help if task is done alone. Vise grips, and C-clamps, for securing distant end of wire rope and repositioning during progress. Draw up the funnel with excess sheet metal tongue on the inside of funnel. An electric dill with 1/8" bit for cleaning the pathway for 1/8" rivets and Ice pick for aiding alignment, are helpful.Editted: In addition to wire loom gasket spoken of above, is the addition of 550 Paracord gasket around the funnel dispensing 2" hole. An arms length of paracord wrapped around a Genesee can, or your favorite 12oz brew. Start with can at center of paracord and wrap around once or twice CC and CCW around the can then begin wrapping loose ends around the paracord itself forming a donut. Hot glue newly formed gasket around outside of funnel feed hole. This will inhibit grains from backing backing up, by way of imperfections with alignment and shape, between funnel and hopper floor.With gaskets both top and bottom of funnel, the need for periodic cleaning of hopper is shirley reduced to nil.Always wear gloves. I used double layered Nitrile gloves for dexterity; but often replacing outer layer.
