Be aware that the "mat" is very thin and flimsy...about the thickness of 2-3 sheets of paper. Most mats are thick and stiff with a beveled edge; this one is not. This is a frame appropriate for something like a poster and you just want a 2" wide white edge. I purchased it for a diamond dotz craft which needs a frame that allows room for something "thick" (diamond dotz) versus something thin and flat (like a poster). Usually buying a pic frame with a mat and removing the mat allows the space (thickness) needed for the diamond art, but this mat is so thin that it doesn't create the space expected.

The frame that was in one piece was fine. The other one was broken at 2 corners. Unfortunately it was the first one I used and I THOUGHT the side was supposed to come unhinged and swing out for easy access. But no. It was unhinged because the corners were broken. Took forever to re-assemble, and tge cirners never jouned up. When I tried to pick it up, it fell apart in my hands. The second one opened my eyes. It was fine and took two min to frame my photo and re-assemble. After 15 min with on the phone with Amazon, now I have to wait 2 days for a reply from the maker. And I dont want to have to remove and reinstall my photos from the matts because it increases the wear and tear on them, adding creases, fingerprints, etc. Not happy at all.

I ordered the springs because typically the opening for the size is 11 x 14 but it turns out it’s not. And I was unclear about it being plexiglass and real Glass. Plus there is no free return.

The final product looks alright but at first I was reluctant to try the plastic frames with plastic covers. I'm an art snob and sometimes make my own frames but after health issues that lead to financial issues....well I have a tight budget. Be very careful with the plastic covers when you remove the protective film. I suggest doing everything on a flat surface so the plastic can't buckle and crack - speaking from experience. I've bought several sizes of these frames. The smaller they are, the better they look. I bought 2, 16"×20" matted to 12"×16", and while it looks ok, it kind of pooches out in the middle because the plastic isn't strong. I bought a stiffer mat and backing to solve the problem but I'm just wanting the buyer to be aware. Perfect for bedrooms, hall's and bathrooms where you don't typically display your fine art. I had originally planned to give 3 stars but I went back and looked at the finished product and it does look nice. That plastic cover is loaded with static electricity so try to work with this on a clean, lint-free surface....again speaking from experience. I put it all together with my cat on my lap and had to take the darn thing apart and clean the bottom side of the plastic. It was hard to get the cat hair unstuck lol. My fault. I'll post a photo soon, it kind of turned out good. Up to 4 stars

Mat does not fit 12”x 16” diamond art as stated. You will need a mat with a smaller opening. I had 1/2” black masking tape and used two strips plus a bit to cover area outside of actual artwork. Tape has a bit of a bubbly texture but only noticeable if you are close. Plastic frame and clear plastic front are good for the price.
