I had two other brands of polish in my kit. Kiwi and Peak (China junk from Dollar General). The China junk is almost a cream gets into older leather of boots well, doesn't shine much, and doesn't last for long. Typical of Chinese Junk. Kiwi is real hard, doesn't like to come off the polish applicator brush or cloth well, it shines pretty good and protects. Good ole stand by Kiwi, been around since God made dirt, and I have been using it my whole life. Now for Angelus.......applies well without being super soft, great lasting shine, good protection, price can't be beat (cheaper than Kiwi), ..............and it's Made In the U.S.A.That's Good Polish, Paw Paw!

Historically I have been a big fan of Lincoln, however I find Angelus cures and shines even faster and better. In one half hour, I was able to take a friend's single uniform low quarter shoe from brand new bare leather to inspection ready shine with Angelus. This task takes Kiwi two to three hours to meet my standards, and Kiwi is fragile once applied. Lincoln falls somewhere in between but has a strange orange color in the creases of the leather. [Edit: I want to emphasize that I have used a lot of shoe polishes and if you are looking to get a good "military spit shine" type of result, Angelus is what you want. If possible, I will never buy Kiwi or Lincoln again. This is the stuff. Learn to use a cut up old 100% cotton t shirt and water to quickly build and cure layers of polish, then back off and use less and less polish on the rag as you finish the shoe. When I learned it, people called it "bulling and polishing"]
