Have it in my room. Thankfully I have not had to use it. Glad to have it as a peace of mind.

Per fire code, every apartment building is supposed to have a fire escape/stairwell to get out in case of an emergency. Getting to these in the case of an emergency is something else. Being a former firefighter, I can tell you that it's not always possible to get out of your apartment. And if you live in a home it can be even more dificult.1. You always want a fire extinguisher in your bedrooms and in your kitchen. Period.2. You always want a fire blanket in each bedroom. Along with a decent pair of shoes.3. This. You want this in your home/apartment. Preferably one in each of your bedrooms.Testing this out was a bit nerve-wracking in all honesty. My wife was not home at this time because she was needed elsewhere. But I didn't want to wait any longer, and I am experienced climbing ladders. That said? Try this out BEFORE the emergency happens. Get used to it. Know the best place to hang this to get out. Make it a game with your kids. Heck, invite the fire department out - they always like a good training opportunity (just mention the liability isn't on them haha).Overall? This can save your whole family's life. It's what you need it to be in an emergency. It's well made, but think of it as one use - the use that will count.
