I was really excited by this cross bar kit. But some minor details kept it from working out for me. Or one, specifically. I have an LE model Highlander. That means I don't have existing side rails. This kit relies on a metal hook + bolt combo grabbing an existing support bracket on the roof channel, then you torque a nut down to snug it up. However...the nuts on these are locking nuts, with the nylon locking part built in. You can't hand tighten locking nuts like this. So every time I would try to tighten it with a wrench, it would shift the metal hook and free it from the bracket built in to the roof. I tried for about two hours to get this to work, and I couldn't ever get the hook / bolt / nut combo to seat and tighten in a way that made me comfortable. If I'm strapping something to my roof and driving down the interstate, I need to have 100% confidence that it won't move. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case here.

This is my second pair of racks from Amazon. I always like them but the weakest point is not in the racks themselves but the usually cheap rubber seals that they typically provide. I give this product high marks but could not give it a 5 because of the similarly cheap rubber fittings. I suspect these will only last 12-24 months before needing to be replaced. I wish someone would make solid rubber seals that last.
