Works but unable to get widescreen function to turn on

I so badly wanted this product to work. Unfortunately the two that I received did not.The first one I received would not send any signal at all to my Samsung 8 Series (2019) LCD TV. The only signs of life that this device had was its green light would come on when plugged into my original Xbox.I then ordered a replacement which took several days to arrive (the first one came next day). The replacement fared a little better but was still unusable: My TV would recognize the video signal only for two or three seconds but would then go to a black screen. This would repeat over & over until I realized this was a waste of money.To be sure, I tested this device in each of my TV's four HDMI ports, used various HDMI cables in each of those ports, tinkered with the HDMI input settings on the TV but sadly none of these made any difference. I even tested turning off various resolutions on the console like 1080i and 480p in hopes that maybe my TV only liked 720p or higher. No joy. I then wondered whether the problem was with my console so I tested that too and confirmed it had absolutely no problem outputting a solid video signal via my old component (red-green-blue) cables to an older Samsung TV.I would not recommend this product.UPDATE February 2025:Problem turned out to be a fault with my XBOX. After having the capacitors on the motherboard replaced, all issues were resolved and this adapter works great! This 1 star review is now a 5 start review!

The picture quality was translated very well through my projector and helped in making much easier to enjoy the original xbox and it's quality gaming possibilities

I purchased a few other cheaper ones and they worked but they didn't show HD just SD. This one actually works on my 70 inch tv

I had my OG Xbox I purchased new put away for the past 13 years. My daughter’s now 5-½ and getting interested in video games, so I pulled it out. I was please to find I had the original Xbox High Definition AV Pack, and my Denon AVR does have a set of component video inputs and TOS Optical inputs. Yet in the end, I ended up going the HDMI and TOS optical route with this converter.This converter is new to Amazon, zero reviews, but I liked the specs and I liked that it had a TOS optical cable connection for Dolby Digital 5.1, which almost no others have. I’ve seen a lot of reviews on these OG Xbox HDMI converters that are pretty negative, but I figured with Amazon’s generous return policy I’d have nothing to lose to try this converter. It was delivered overnight w/Amazon Prime. Came in a small box, and was well packaged, coming with the converter, as well as a nice HDMI cable, a cable management Velcro strap, and an instruction manual. Note that the optical cable is not included. The converter itself looks very well made, housed in a high quality aluminum housing. I plugged the converter into my OG Xbox, and then ran the HDMI and optical cables to my Denon AVR, and made the appropriate configuration changes to the AVR.I fired up my OG Xbox from its 13 year slumber, and amazingly it came right to life! I couldn’t resist firing up Doom3 to test and it looked glorious on my 70” Samsung! I think this converter’s a winner folks, $25 (when I bought it) and it works great!
