My washer sounded like a tazmanian devil in the garage. This fixed my problem. Now washer is nice and quiet and smooth. 👌🏾

This is a pretty simple repair to perform on my Whirlpool WTW5000DW1 washing machine. This will take no more than 30 minutes to perform, and it took me around 15 minutes to complete.1-You do not need to disconnect the water supply lines unless you do not have enough access to the screw in the back of the unit.2-Remove the three screws in the back of the unit securing the steel plate.3-Pull the top portion of the unit forward which will allow you to lift it up 90 degrees.4-Look at the location of the 4 suspension rods. Mine was removeable because the bottom was slotted.5-Replace each rod one at a time. The rod closest to the dispenser (front left) is the hardest one.6-close it al up and replace rear screws.

Everyone who had a issue with the violent shaking has nothing to do with the dampening rods, they work perfect but if you still have issues with shaking then you need to change the plastic hub to the metal hub which involves taking off the wash plate and removing the plastic hub to a metel hub because the plastic hub lasts only 5-7 years and so for me it was a 2 step process.

I researched the issue I had with my out of balance washer on spin cycle and the problem indicated the suspension rods needed to be replaced. I ordered these after market rods rather than OEM rods because they were readily available and the OEM would take weeks. They were advertised as updated rods and I thought they would do rather than wait till the OEM parts were available. Well to be brief, I installed the rods as described in the fix it video and it was not as easy as shown. My washer was a large capacity tub and was much more difficult than the clip demonstrated and was bloodied and bruised even with gloves and long sleeves. Upon completion I did a test spin with the washer empty and the problem was worse than with the old suspension rods. I called a repair man and described my issue and the first thing he asked was did I use OEM rods? I told him no and he said he had ordered these same updated after market rods and had the same issue and had to return the rods and order OEM rods to fix the problem in three machines he had in his shop. He said the life expectancy of the OEM rods were about three to five years and the after market rods were unsatisfactory. Rather than replace the rods with OEM parts and return them and subject my body to the trauma the installation inflicted I decided to scrap the washer and replace it with a direct drive machine. I do not recommend these rods as replacement parts!
