B&M Shifter Issues Sent to Holly on Nov. 12, 2022 No response to date 11-22-22.I have finished installing my Quicksilver Shifter. Took a little while because I found some problems with the engineering. First item- Tab on Shift Rod Bracket is 3/4' too low. See Fig. 48 in Install Manual. Puts kink in cable & even worse in 4th position. Made new bracket with the tab in up position that allowed me to space it down for better Shift Rod position. Installed and seen that the tab location puts Cable Rod non-parallel to transmission. Swivel Pin binds in Shift Lever Bracket.Reinstalled B&M Bracket. Same problem with B&M Bracket; Swivel Pin binds in Selector Lever. Tab needs to be 1/4 farther from Transmission. Made new Bracket (second one) to correct need. Tab now in corrected location with spacers to provide minimal Rod Kink in all positions. The second bracket, with longer bolts, is good to go and with spacers, 5/8” at front bolt and 7/16” at rear bolt. We now have optimum bracket tab location for almost no appearance of kinking of cable thru all shift lever locations.Directions for Swivel Pin adjustment are misleading. Readjusting Swivel after Drive Position un-adjusts correct Drive adjustment There is only one Adjustment, At Drive, if the engineering is correct. With all done car is months away from the road. I have to say, I expected the Shift Mechanism to be smoother; GM smooth. Also, the Lift and Ratchet Springs are too strong. And, the unit could use some nylon washers to limit side to side play of Shifter Lever. Time will tell if I choose to replace it later. Some response would be good. I do want to give the best possible review. I have a drawing of myfinal Cable Bracket. I'm sure I've voided my warranty. At 77, I've always seen B&M as the best.Blessings to all!JonMadera, CA

I installed this in my 78 El Camino with ease. If you can follow instructions, and easy ones at that, than you can install this shifter easily. You better make sure that you know where it will go and that it will clear your seat or dash. I knew this ahead of time so i made a cut out in my bench seat and put out down. This shifter is bad ass! Looks great, built solid and now i can shift my tranny when I want. Makes my sbc a moster!

This is a decent shifter for the money. Easy to install if you have basic automotive skills and tools. The shifter arm rattles a bit, but has positive detents with a smooth ratchet action. Not as high quality as a Hurst shifter, but for my needs it is more than enough. Complete unit with lighting, neutral safety and backup light switches included. Simple enough instructions for Chevy, Ford and Mopar installs. The chrome is bright and no flaws in the unit.

Nicely made of thick metal. Couldn't find the standard shift function at first till I noticed that I was shifting past it to ratchet mode. In other words you-i-can shift past regulars drive easily . By the time it dropped into, the drive in ratchet modem to late. From park to regular drive is a throw of about 3 inches ,past that the shifter drops into ratchet mode. Not an issue though once I found that out as I had a hurst shifter and the throw from park to ratchet was tha same distance. .Nicely made, looks good in my Monte Carlo ss and no issues in the time I have had it.
