I purchased this as a quick fix for my a/c system. The repairman wanted over $700 to replace this. I shut off the power and replaced it myself. Very easy job. This is a good quality capacitor and my air works great again. Air conditioning is very necessary in the hot arizona summer.

I've been having various issues with my furnace for the last 4 or 5 years and sorting them out one by one. The furnace blower stopped working on New Years Day, and so I had no heat in the house for a few days until I received this capacitor and changed it. I wasn't sure if it was the motor or capacitor or both, but the capacitor fixed it! It was a cheap and easy and quick repair.

The capacitor works, and definitely saved us a lot of money. The HVAC technician offered to replace the old capacitor and clean the blower motor blades for $1100, and we said we'd do it ourselves. Hard to say how much the capacitor alone saved us, but suffice it to say, it was probably several hundred dollars. That said- it should be noted, it seems that this capacitor was fully charged when it arrived. I typically wear boots with fairly thick rubber soles, as well as Maxiflex gloves which have a thick nitrile layer, when handling line voltages (120VAC). With this level of protection, while not technically rated for 120VAC, I can touch live/line sides of 120VAC circuits and not feel anything, not even so much as a tingle. But when installing this new capacitor, wearing these boots and gloves, I attached the wires' terminal connectors by hand, and used my index finger to firmly press them in place. When I pressed the first of them into place, nothing unusual happened. But when I pressed the second terminal into place, I felt a slight zap, through the gloved finger. This suggests that I was bridging at least 300 volts to ground, which really surprised me. So buyer beware, handle these capacitors with care.

Just had our Bryant furnace professionally serviced for the first time in 25 years. He said everything looked and sounded good except the startup capacitor. It's rated 7.5 but only performs at 2.4, so it needs to be replaced to save the blower motor. He said it would be $200 if he had one on the truck. Once I got the specs from him (7.5 and +- 6%) and he went out to the truck to see if he had one, I got on Amazon on my phone, and by the time he returned, I already had them pulled up. This BOJACK was $9.90 when I ordered it last week.I don't like working around electricity since I'm not a trained electrician, but helpful videos are posted online. I flipped off the furnace power switch and furnace breaker. I used INSULATED pliers to remove the wired contacts from the old capacitor. Then, it was just a matter of removing the old capacitor, mounting the new BOJACK, and connecting the wires. Works great! The blower motor starts running immediately and no longer labors to start.NOTE: Don't touch the capacitor's contacts with your fingers unless you DISCHARGE IT first. The old-school way is to touch both contacts simultaneously with an INSULATED screwdriver. See online videos if you aren't sure what to do. I just avoided touching the contacts of the old capacitor. He would've charged me $200 to replace it, but it only cost me $10 to do it myself. I changed the filter while I was in there, too. I was surprised it wasn't replaced during the servicing.
