I've got a lot of server equipment in a small media closet, and it was getting pretty hot in there during the summer months. This fan was easy to install through my drywall with a few small cuts with a handheld drywall saw. I was fortunate that my install location was close to a wall receptacle, so I was able to splice off of that.To provide some basic temperature control, I paired this with the BN-LINK Thermostat Controller which lets me set a threshold temp of 75F, so the fan comes on only as needed to keep things at that temperature or less. It's quiet enough though not silent. It moves more than enough air to keep a small room ventilated. My only wish is that it was reversible, it would be great to change directions depending on season. The outlet side is kind of a generic cheap white plastic grill...they could have done a better job with that. The intake side is still plastic but much nicer and more finished looking. I didn't use the bendy metal ductwork as I was just doing a straight pass-through which didn't require it, so if you're just doing a through and through, you may not need it depending on how thick your walls are.

The fan works great and the install was straight forward, a shame the Levitron dehumidistat recommended didn’t work as required

The exterior vent hood is great. Very sturdy and the damper works really well. I had to improvise an 8” piece of duct work to reach all the way through the wall (block, framing and insulation).

Installed in downstairs bathroom and the fan works very well. It pushes a lot of air and takes the humidity out very quickly.Easy to install w/o needing to be up against a stud.

The fan was new and repackaged as described. It did have one corner of the inside vent bent and the exhaust chute out of round so the fan blades hit when I turned it on. I had to unbend the corner in my vise and rubber hammer. The chute had to be adjusted so the fan would turn properly. I guess that's why it was marked down. As far as the installation direction go.They want you to cut just the siding out and place strips of wood where the siding was. Then screw the hood to the furring strips. I just cut the hole and calked the inside of the hood frame and made sure enough calk squirted out the edges of the hood. I called the company first. They said as long as the siding was flat and secure they were ok with doing it that way. As a previous reviewer stated installation should not be done by the average DIY er. I also installed a timer 5-15-30 60 min. or always on. The fan is a noisy but it does get the smoke out.
