Joining Edgar on the inclusive project is an impressive array of renowned musicians who knew, or were inspired by Johnny, including: Joe Bonamassa, Doyle Bramhall II, John McFee, Robben Ford, Billy Gibbons, David Grissom, Taylor Hawkins, Warren Haynes, Steve Lukather, Michael McDonald, Keb Mo, Doug Rappoport, Bobby Rush, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Ringo Starr, Derek Trucks, Waddy Wachtel, Joe Walsh, Phil X and Gregg Bissonette. The guitar-driven album celebrates the expansive styles Johnny was known for - the 17 tracks were carefully curated by Edgar and producer Ross Hogarth to represent Johnny's evolution as an artist, honoring his great legacy while also incorporating a personal tribute from brother to brother, and for which Edgar penned two new songs.

既に70代後半だというのにエドガーのヴォーカルは相変わらず迫力があって素晴らしい！ギターはそれぞれフューチャーされたギタリストの個性が出ていて楽しめます。エドガー以外のヴォーカルで秀逸なのは14.Memory PainのWarren Haynes❗️歌もギターも完璧で、何度聴いてもカッコイイ❗️残念なのは、6.Stranger これはエドガーが歌わなきゃダメでしょう。Michael McDonald ってドゥービーでもそうだけど、なんで歌いたがるのだろう？作曲の才能は認めるけど、歌うのはご遠慮いただきたい。

It's nearly 8 years since the passing of Johnny Winter, one of the most overlooked but truly great guitarists of the emerging blues/rock influenced music of the late '60s. I've followed his career since 1969 with the purchase of the first CBS album 'Johnny Winter', now a blues classic. His brother Edgar has crafted a brilliant tribute to his brother within these 17 tracks. The track selection has evolved not through just Edgar but some of the guest musicians too. I particularly love Jo Bonamassa's choice of 'Mean Town Blues' and 'Self Destructive Blues' on which he does JW proud. Joe Walsh, Billy Gibbons, Derek Trucks, Keb Mo among many others contribute massively to this album. I do recommend acquiring the cd package with Edgar's extensive track by track liner notes each one telling the track story and how he chose the musicians while adding a personal , affectionate brotherly touch. Johnny and Edgar Winter were, still are, hugely talented musicians..... While being a great tribute album, it is essentially a carefully crafted personal tribute from Edgar Winter to his much missed older brother, Johnny.

Wer Johnny Winter und ganz allgemein bluesorientierten Rock mag, der kommt hier voll auf seine Kosten. Besonders glänzen hier Joe Bonamassa, Billy Gibbons und Derek Trucks aber auch alle anderen Gäste von Keb Mo bis Joe Walsh überzeugen. Teilweise übernehmen sie auch gleich den Gesang, wobei auch Edgar Winter ein ausgezeichneter Sänger ist, der mit seiner Stimme gelegentlich sehr an good old Johnny erinnert. Klasse!!!
