Great way to hide a key or other items. This magnetic box is great. The magnetic is pretty strong. However, I don't have this hidden under my car where vibration could shake it loose so I can't attest to that if that is what you plan to do with it.Mine is tucked up under some garden decor. So far it has withstood the weather elements very well.It is definitely "big" if you only are putting one key in it - around 5 inches long.There is protective foam on each side so does a nice job keeping the keys secured and from rattling around.

I like the magnetic storage box, it seals water tight. The magnet isn't strong enough to solely secure the box to the exterior frame of the car.

I’ve been testing a few magnetic key boxes lately, and this one stood out for its solid build and waterproof seal. The hinged lid feels like it can take a bit of a beating, and the latch clicks closed with confidence. I’ve left it outside through a couple storms, and everything inside stayed bone dry, which is a huge plus.That said, the magnets just don’t hold up. Compared to others I’ve used, they’re noticeably weaker. I definitely wouldn’t feel comfortable attaching this to the underside of a vehicle or anywhere it might take a jolt or bump—it’s just not secure enough.It’s still useful for more stationary spots like a hidden corner of a shed or barn, but for high-vibration areas, I’d pick something with stronger magnetic grip.

If you're like me (growing up shortly after the earth cooled) you've probably used the "old-school" hide-a-key devices. Most of these looked like metal match boxes with a magnet glued to the bottom. That was actually quite adequate for the old-school keys that we used to have - the ones you could go to your local hardware store and get copied for $2.Things have changed. I recently had a spare key made for my vehicle, and it set me back $300 (and that was a relative bargain - the dealer would have charged multiples of that amount). That is to say, when you hide a key under your car, you want to be VERY certain that it won't disappear, and that the inescapably harsh environment won't kill that expensive key.That's where a key box like this one comes in. It had all the features I needed to feel good about banishing one of my precious new keys to the underside of my car. I can do that with confidence because of the design of this box - it's made out of obviously heavy-duty plastics, and the molding, fit and finish is outstanding. The latches are simple, strong and very positive (no chance they'll pop open by accident). The embedded magnet is impressively strong as well, though I'd still recommend attaching it to a flat, horizontal surface rather than a vertical one ending at an opening to the "outside", as enough jolts, bumps and vibrations could cause ANY similar device to work its way down to oblivion.I like the foam inserts, which will hold my key securely and safely, and provide an extra level of thermal insulation. The "labyrinth" seal seems to be well-made, and the seam between the top and bottom case halves virtually disappears with the box closed and latched. Even so, it would be a good idea to mount the box under your car where it wouldn't be subjected to too much water being splashed up by the tires, or too close to any part of the exhaust system (for obvious reasons).I'm happy that I now know that I really CAN get in my car if I lose my key (or lock it in the car)!
