The key for my 2004 honda crv ignition was becoming more and more difficult to insert and i was afraid that one day id be stranded so i ordered this little kit. I had another key that wasnt wore out so, with help from you tube and some patience i removed the cylinder and put new wafers where the old ones were wore out and works great. I didnt use the new cylinder, just replaced the wafers in the old cylinder.

I did not realize that the parts supplied did not fit my 2003 Honda Odyssey. I did not discover this until I had removed the ignition lock from my car and dismantled it. When I had the lock apart, I realized that the lock was different and would not interchange. I tried using the tumblers to rebuild my lock but they were either too long or too short. I ended up pulling all of the tumblers out of my lock so that I could use it and not have my car crippled in my garage while I awaited new parts. The quality of the castings supplied was poor and appeared crude compared to what was supplied by Honda. The vendor needs to supply a PDF of detailed instructions. U-Tube provided helpful videos.

I rekeyed old style Acura and Honda cylinders in the 1990s and early 2000s, this is a bit more complicated but doable by DIYer with a bit of patience. Ideally I would have done this on the kitchen table with a light colored towel to keep springs from rolling, but my wife was piecing a quilt there so I used my mouse pad.Start at the inner most and tape the chosen wafers in place with tape before moving to the next wafer. I used clear cellophane, but painters tape probably would have worked better. Some of the wafers are a little tall compared to those from an OEM cylinder and had to be carefully brought flush with a jewelers file.
