This is a great little product. For the low asking price, I am now much less concerned about my child burning himself on the oven. There is a lot of value to that.The device mounts by simple red 3M double sided tape. This means that it isn't incredibly strong and impervious to any child's efforts to open the door, but it is an extra step towards safety. It fit nicely on my gas range/oven.The function is easy to understand. You just press in on the two outside buttons to rotate the front of the device out of the door's way and vice versa. We bake a lot of sourdough and pizza, so we tend to use broil and high heats often. Despite this, I've seen no warping or effects of the heat on the device over my two weeks of using this. I will update the review if that fact changes!

This is so simple and so useful! I ordered this preemptively to prevent my infant son from opening the oven door when he can stand. It works exactly as described and the gray color matches my stainless steel appliance well. It's very easy to "unlock" and the adhesive seems quite strong. I will likely buy another for the dishwasher as well.

This baby lock seems like a good option for some (see below), but not all, ovens. Essentially it works by sticking the plastic body to the oven body. The longer “tongue” of the lock sticks out over the door and prevents it from opening more than an inch or two. To open the oven, you press buttons on both sides of the lock which allow it to rotate in either direction, moving the tongue out of the way and the oven door to be fully opened. The lock seems solid enough, and the kit comes with a link to directions and two alcohol prep pads for cleaning the surface of the oven prior to sticking. Overall, this seems like a good design, but with a few caveats:The lock did not fit my oven well, despite meeting the criteria in the listing that XXXXXX. This is because I have an older style, basic oven (see pics) + range/stove where the handle runs the length of the oven door. Because of this, I would need to install the lock close to the center and underneath the handle. This could be workable (though not convenient). However, the top edge of the front of the oven is only 1.5 inches wide. The sticky pad/attachment site has a width of 1 and 11/16 inches, so the pad will stick out, either above the rim of the stove (not good) or down into the gap above the oven door (also not good). Additionally, the adhesive pad would be exposed to heat from the oven vents and stove, so I am not sure how well it would hold up. I would also be a little concerned that the lock does still allow the door to open a bit, so some very hot air could escape, and there’s still some risk of a burn if a child was really determined to stick their hand in a hot door gap (hopefully not…)Overall this design seems like it would be effective, but only for ovens with larger areas (>1.75 inches width) to stick the lock on, probably newer/fancier style ovens like those pictured in the listing.

Very disappointing experience with this oven lock. I was very excited to receive it, as right out of the box it was well-packaged and looked high-quality. But when I attempted to use the unlocking mechanism, the plastic "tongue" refused to turn no matter how hard I pushed the two side knobs. I thought to myself, maybe I'm just too weak. Maybe it's a little tight from coming right out of the factory. To double-check, I called my partner over, who has great finger strength due to previously rock climbing. Nope! He was also unable to unlock it after multiple attempts.I'm hoping this is a one-off, but it was definitely disappointing and not a great look for quality control. I'll also add, after our hours of straining, one of the two knobs is now also slightly pushed in and seems a bit stuck. This also doesn't bode well for future durability, even if the lock was working properly...
