I've tried tons of tape for projects over the years, some ridiculously expensive and some run-of-the-mill. This is excellent gaffer's tape, simple as that. I happened to be using a couple rolls of German-made Tesa gaffers-style tape a lot before i got this (they don't call it gaffer's, but it's the same) and this tape from Gaffer Power was markedly better than one of them — Tesa's retail line called Eco. The Gaffer Power just blew it away in holding power, easy removal (within a reasonable amount of time...no tape is always 100% easy to remove & residue-free after months and months go by). I still like it next to the other roll, a super-premium Tesa used for aeronautical and space industries mostly with an insane MSRP; while the Gaffer Power wasn't quite as thick or indestructible, it's much easier to apply. Great product!!

The Gaffer Power Gaffer Tape I received is 2” wide and I estimate the roll to be about 25-30’ long (not stated on package).Gaffer tape is ideal for short term use. It is tough and will withstand heavy foot traffic with little wear. When carefully placed, it can provide a neat, clean look while still doing its job. No scissors or knives necessary; it tears cleanly.it is easily removed without damaging the surface it was stuck to (that is generally true, but test before using on painted surfaces; some paints may be damaged). It leaves no residue or stickiness behind.But it should not be left in place indefinitely.I worked in video production for more than 20 years, and we used gaff tape all the time, primarily for securing loose wires. Whenever a camera cable, audio wire, or electric cord had to be laid across a floor where someone might stumble over it, the wire was taped to the floor, to protect both people AND the wiring and equipment.I occasionally found old tape left on cables when they were put into storage. The adhesive had become very sticky, and almost impossible to completely remove. Bits of tape left on floors did the same thing; the old adhesive seeped out from under the tape, got tracked around, then covered with dirt and grime. Made a mess.Gaffer Power tapes are made in the USA.(As of the date of this review, I have not used Gaffer Power brand gaff tape long enough to test the "gooey" factor, but it looks, feels and performs like all the others I have used.)

First up--how you can make a rational decision on what to buy if you don't even know how much you're buying?? How many feet is this roll? Who knows.The tape is an exact 1 7/8" wide. It can be laterally ripped with ease by hand (occasionally you don't rip straight through an a fiber pulls out of the side of the tape and runs down the roll, which is a little annoying). But that's a skill thing.In my limited use so far I have found it to grip quite well and release equally well with no discernible residue. As another commenter noted, it does have the strong smell of brand new vinyl, but for me I only noticed when I held it up to my face.It's a really nice mat black color that draws no attention to itself and blends in well. I'll be using this for a theater sound design, but there are plenty of other uses for a good gaffers tape.

This is basic, economy-grade gaffers tape. It's made of a thin piece of cloth, with adhesive on one side and a somewhat shiny black layer on the back.The adhesive is generally clean releasing, but tacky enough that it could take paint off walls if you're not careful. If wiped across a surface like glass it can leave a little residue, but not as bad as many gaffer tapes I've used. The residue comes off easily by simply placing a fresh piece of tape over it and pulling off.The tape is surprisingly strong and tears well.I would definitely put this in the category of economy tape as opposed to premium gaffer's tape. The premium tapes are much thicker and have thicker adhesive. I'm a big fan of having both premium and economy grades of gaffer tape on set- you use the economy tape for most things, and the premium tape for things where failure or damage would be a problem. It's not that the economy tape is going to fail, but the chances are higher.It's a good option for an economy grade tape.

This was exactly what I was looking for exactly when I needed it. I wanted to run some temp ethernet quickly in our new house while I laid out a floor plan for in-wall access. This stuff worked great to keep the cables down and out of the way for the few days it took me to get everything set up. I'm glad there is plenty on the roll as I'm going to find other uses for this product. Great adhesion, no mess, no marks. Like I said, amazing.
