I was introduced to this filtered immersion brewing method on a trip and couldn't wait to buy one once I got home. It is now my preferred morning method- it has the richness of a French Press but smoothed out by filtering and with little to no cleanup. Even Hoffman says so! I follow his method and add my grounds after the water, giving a light stir after a minute, for easier draining. All you need is a standard kettle, no gooseneck required. Could possibly be used for pour-overs too? Spend the money on this original brand, the quality is worth it! Quick shipping.

I have now used my Large Clever coffee dripper almost daily for 6 months. I love the ability to hold coffee in the funnel for dialing in brew time. With some experimentation (along with grind size and water temperature), you can get the best flavor out of any type of coffee. It might seem a little pricey for a plastic funnel that only makes one cup at a time, but this design totally blows away any other pour over funnel. Yes, you can use it as a regular pour over, but the flexibility to hold coffee brewing longer opens up the ability to modify extraction to optimize flavor from any roast level or origin. The valve and plate mechanism are not as easy to clean as a regular pour over funnel, but I just rinse well after each use and take apart once a week (easy to remove valve gasket) for thorough cleaning. I would not put this in a dishwasher with an electric heating element for drying since it is plastic and because you would need to take it apart for dishwasher spray to reach all areas. It's just easier to handwash.I recommend a transparent color funnel to see the water level more easily. I also recommend using Hario V60 Size 3 White Paper Coffee Filters -- the cone shape fits perfectly in the Large (18oz) Dripper when you fold the point, they're less expensive than other quality Japanese paper filters, and there is no dust or off flavors imparted.I rarely rate any products 5/5 stars, but if you like good coffee at home, I can't recommend this product highly enough!

The coffee made in this Clever Dripper always tastes excellent. The way this works is that you put the filter in the cone, then the coffee ( I always use freshly ground coffee ) , then pour hot water ( 190 - 195 degrees ) over the grounds. The Clever part is that the stopper mechanism does not let the water thru until the cone is placed on a cup. So you can let the coffee steep in the grounds as long or short as you wish. I have used French Presses, the AeroPress, and of course regular coffee makers. This one is easy to use and the coffee always tastes great. It uses a filter - which some people might say will reduce the intensity of the flavor - but I do not notice anything like that. It is so easy to clean - just pick up the filter and toss in garbage, then rinse the cone. As opposed to a French press, where it is a real pain to get the coffee grounds out of the press and not let them get into the drain.

So far I love my clever dripper. After doing a deep dive on the coffee subreddit, I came across the clever dripper as a good option for lazy people who still want a good cup of coffee. I wanted something that was easy to use, uses a filter, and makes a better cup of coffee than my keurig. This does all of that. I'm still working out my perfect brew, but for now I rinse the filter, put 250g of water at 205° fahrenheit, put 15g of coffee, mix and brew for 2-4 minutes depending on if I walk away and forget it's brewing or not lol. It takes about 30 seconds for the coffee to flow out when I put it on my mug. It fits on top of all of my large mugs except one that has a wider top. It's super easy to clean. I hand wash. The Java color is beautiful. It fits #4 filters. Overall I love it.
