Ordered this to repair our 1980's Maytag dryer. Identical to the old part and installed easily. It's only been in service for about a month, so I can't comment on longevity, but I'm very happy with it so far.

UPDATED REVIEW (Original 9/2020) - FEBRUARY 16, 2021I AM ALAWAYS HONEST & FAIR. I Installed this September-2020 - it worked - It is now February - 2021 - FIVE months later & it FAILED - The ORIGINAL IGNITOR was over 15 years old. I DON'T know what can cause these to fail catastrophically (as opposed to failure due to natural causes such as metal fatigue caused by aging)- there are no stresses related to load, temperature, electrical/mechanical stress that would take 5 months to damage ignitor etc.. ALL it does is heat up and ignite the gas - the rest of the dryer does the rest - ONLY MANUFACTURER DEFECT/INFERIOR QUALITY can cause this to fail - IF I INSTALLED WRONG IT WOULD HAVE FAILED IN SEPTEMBER NOT WAIT 5 MONTHS TO FAIL... I EXPECT A REPLACEMENT REGARDLESS OF POLICY BECAUSE THESE ARE SUPPOSED TO LAST YEARS - TECHNICALLY BASED ON AGE OF DRYER IT SHOULD OUTLAST THE DRYER - SO A MATTER OF PRINICPAL - IF SELLAR DOES RIGHT THING I WILL DO THE RIGHT THING IN THIS REVIEW - THE BALL IS IN YOUR COURT - REVIEW WENT FROM 5 to 1 AS OF NOWORIGINAL 5 STAR REVIEW - September 2020:- BE CAREFUL - all brands of this device are the same when it comes to the heating element being very fragile - don't drop, twist or bang this element or else it will crack and become useless - don't over-tighten mounting screws - note old unit screw tension when removing. Other than that - easy to install (5 minutes once you remove dryer access panel - plenty of you-tube videos on how to gain access for your model / brand dryer, generic part that works just fine. To test old unit and new unit to insure you are replacing correct part to resolve your problem (gas dryer would not fire up and dry clothes) you can use a basic ohm meter to measure continuity - remove old unit from dryer and connect ohm meter to the 2 wires - if "open" (infinity reading) then it is bad - if there is a short ("0" ohms on lowest scale) then this part is "good". If you don't own a meter then buy one - they are so inexpensive there is no reason not to own a decent digital multi-meter that measures resistance / continuity (ohms), Volts (AC & DC) & low level (usually up to 1 Amp) AC & DC current (uA, mA, Amps) - a decent one should cost around $20. You may need it to troubleshoot this problem if this part DOESN'T fix problem or if your original part is not bad causing the problem in the first place, you may need to test other related parts - again refer to you-tube for troubleshooting dryer instructions.
