This saw is very lightweight and sharp. I wouldn’t use it for big tasks, but sawing down kindling for a camp stove or making wood tools, it works perfectly. Slips in your pocket!

Slightly lacking in detail, but that aside, a really good kit and for the money, excellent value. Not a massive project either. An hour or so a day and you'll be done within a week. Fit is very good and the only thing to watch out for are some errors in the instructions. The wing instructions are showing incorrect left/right assembly and I found the gun sight needed to be sanded down to fit into the instrument panel. Minor things to be honest. I had very little filling and sanding to do for seam lines and I would just say, be careful with the wing alignment where the folds are. Don't apply glue until you have it bang on. I use Tamiya tape to get it all aligned and only then inched around the join, gluing small sections as I made sure everything was bang on. The decals aren't great, the older Tamiya were always too thick. I replaced them with Microscale decals and that allowed me to do a two tone blue paint job, with satin white underneath. It looked so much better than all sea blue. Just add a bit of detail to the cockpit with some photoetch, some better decals and you've got a very nice result indeed. Even masking and then airbrushing the colour scheme was a breeze. A slightly different looking plane, so worth having one in the collection. Looks great next to the Eduard Wildcat that I recently built.

Tamiya always has the best quality, details, and fit and finish. This model has a ton of parts, plenty of details, and fit was great. Some Tamiya models only come with minimal parts, this one comes with a lot of parts. Very enjoyable

Initial impression - Yes, this is VERY light weight. (2.7 oz)I believe the blade is a steel (it is magnetic - so Not stainless). But WOW, it has a ton of deflection/it's very flexible. The teeth are the same color as the rest of the blade - so I'm wondering if it has even been hardened in any way. There is no stamp on the blade regarding that. And the company's website doesn't reveal anything.Acting as the blade's pivot, the captive nut and bolt does not have any thread lock from the factory. I would suggest adding some there. The bolt itself is threaded all the way - so, I wonder how long it will stand up to open/close cycles and how much play will be introduced when it or the blade's hole inevitably wears out. From the factory, there is no play in the blade at the pivot - which is obviously a good thing. The handle is made out of a light shiny plastic, similar to what you would find on a toy/play gun. It is absolutely Not glass reinforced. I am not sure if each of the sides of the handle are hollow. I hope that it is friction welded - but there might be a screw under the rubberized grip. At this point I am skeptical about putting it into a SHTF bag.The latch button is the same cheap feeling plastic. But it uses the spring as the friction-point; which in a nice touch and will probably lend itself well to Not breaking or wearing out / becoming the failure-mode.I'll be carrying it EDC in a leg pocket of carpenter pants and probably employ it as a gypsum/drywall saw (for now) - so we'll see how good it lasts as a "pocket saw" under those conditions.

I don’t normally do reviews, but I got I had to on this one. I originally bought it because I needed a pocket quickly and was on a budget. I figured I would get this and upgrade to something more quality a little down the road. When I first got the saw and took it from the packaging, my first thought was of how cheap it felt in my hand. Really thin plastic, seemed like it was barely holding itself together. I didn’t think that it would hold up to even the smallest jobs. My second thought was how small it was. Granted, I did want a small saw, but I didn’t pay much attention to the dimensions, so that’s on me, but when I opened the blade it still fit nicely in my hand. So I put it in my pack for a few days and went back to amazon to find a better replacement.I went to my bag to start double checking everything for an upcoming week in the field. As I’m packing everything and wrapping them in ziplocks, I come back to this saw. I again feel the cheap plastic and think that if I look at this wrong that it’s going to break.I just happened to have a 2x4 stud next to me from an old project and thought I would give the saw a fighting chance. From my first stroke, I was incredibly impressed. This little saw cut through that stud like it wasn’t there, with almost no blade flex, no binding, and the handle held up very well. The saw cut deep on each stroke and I was through it before I knew what happened.I’m going to find out how this performs in the field, but from what I saw in my garage, I’m impressed and am certain it will do at least passably well in cutting deadfall and green stuff. I gave 4 stars only because of the cheap feel, but if the handle holds up, this saw will come with me everywhere.Great buy at a great price! I’ve been consistently impressed with Coghlan products recently, keep up the good work!
