This thing works GREAT. I hooked it to my old VCR and the other end to my laptop. Then it tells you the software to use, which is REALLY EASY. Now I have all my old home videos digitally on flash for the whole family! So, you plug into vcr and computer, then start the software it tells you to, then put VHS tape in VCR, and click record on computer and press play on VCR. You just let the whole tape play. Once the tape is at the end, you stop recording and it’ll save to your documents. 5 out of 5 stars! Trust me!

The product was working fine for a couple of days, then started to sporadically stop working. I was able to run it for 12 hours without issues for a couple of days. Now it stops working after 30-40 minutes. I have to reset it (completely power off and back on again) in order for it to come back online. In it's current state of operation, I'm unable to complete converting all the video cassettes I have.

So far this device has been amazing! We recently had a death in the family. While going through items in the house, we came across old home movies from 2003-04 on camcorder cassettes. After not much luck finding a VCR and not currently having the VHS adapter for the cassettes, we found the camcorder that was used. The videos recorded with ease and were clear (as clear as 22 year old tape can be). It allowed my wife's family to see memories they never have before or haven't seen in years! I was told other family members have more tapes at their houses that I will digitize in the near future.I may purchase another video upscaler to try and get some better video quality out of the tapes. Unfortunately my old upscaler quit working after several years.

With a VCR player we were able to convert our old VHS tapes to a digital format. We used the OBS software (free online download) to view/record the tapes. The quality of the video I'm sure would largely depend on the quality/condition of the VHS tape, but overall we were pleased with our experience. Easier to set-up than we initially thought. Will be sharing this tool with friends and family who want to digitize their childhood tapes.
