I was skeptical about buying one of these commercial units. So many bad reviews and horror stories. All I can say the dehumidifier works like a champ. I have had it 4 months now and it has moved my basement humidity from 95% down to 40%. The house no longer smells like damp cardboard. Basement walls and floor has dried out. It doesn't have a huge stream of water coming out of the drainpipe, more like occasional splashes. It is an intermittent flow and over a day will fill up a 5-gallon bucket. That is 5 gallons of water that is not in the air in my basement. Only drawback is it runs all the time. I set the humidity goal to 40% and it pretty much never turns off to do that. My utility bill went up about $50/mo to run full time (California rates). That is worth it to me to dry out the house. Seems pretty solidly made. Let's see how hit stands the test of time. Hopefully it runs a few years.

So I had this over 30 days now. It runs almost continuously. As a matter of fact, I only turn it off for cleaning. Highly effective. Seems to be energy efficient. I truly believe that it saves on my energy bill. I’m using this in my basement as I am remodeling. It helps keep the moisture levels down and helps drywall compound setup quicker allowing for better productivity. I took away 1 star only for the fact that it seems to struggles bringing the moisture level below 30 percent even though my basement area is under 1000 square feet…and maybe I am asking for a bit too much. I am very happy with how it works and the value it brings. I purchased it in the winter but I am very confident that it will bring great benefits to all seasons of use. It is quite, effective and efficient.

After dealing with persistent humidity issues in our crawl space, we decided it was time for an upgrade. Our previous dehumidifier, while functional for smaller spaces, proved inadequate for the demands of our larger, more humid crawl space. After some research, we opted for the Moiswell 145 Pint Commercial Dehumidifier, and it has been a game-changer.Installation & Initial ImpressionsInstalling the Moiswell dehumidifier was straightforward. We mounted it securely onto the joists, a placement that not only keeps the unit out of the way but also allows for optimal airflow. The unit’s design is robust and feels like it’s built to last, which was one of the first things we noticed upon unpacking it.Once installed, we turned the unit on and monitored the humidity levels closely. At 10:30 AM, the humidity was a concerning 89%, which had been typical of our crawl space, contributing to issues like musty odors and potential mold growth. By 8 PM the same day, the Moiswell had already brought the humidity down to 64%, and by the following day at noon, it had further decreased to 59%. The rapid reduction in humidity was impressive and far exceeded our expectations based on past experiences with other dehumidifiers.Performance & EfficiencyWe set the target humidity level to 55%, and the Moiswell unit has been working diligently to maintain this level. The built-in hygrometer appears accurate and responsive, adjusting the unit's operation as needed to maintain the set humidity. The continuous drainage option is particularly convenient; with the drain hose attached, the unit consistently removes moisture from the air without the need for manual emptying. This feature is crucial for a space like ours, where high humidity is a constant issue.Noise LevelOne of our biggest concerns with a commercial-grade dehumidifier was noise. Given its powerful performance, we were prepared to tolerate some level of noise. However, we were pleasantly surprised to find that the Moiswell runs incredibly quietly. It’s so unobtrusive that we often forget it’s even on. This low noise level is a significant advantage, especially for those who have the unit installed in areas close to living spaces.Overall Satisfaction & RecommendationAfter using the Moiswell 145 Pint Commercial Dehumidifier for several weeks, we can confidently say that it has exceeded our expectations in every aspect. The humidity levels in our crawl space are now consistently within our desired range, and the air feels noticeably drier and fresher. The peace of mind that comes from knowing our space is protected from excess moisture is invaluable. In summary, if you’re dealing with a similar situation where humidity control is critical, the Moiswell 145 Pint Commercial Dehumidifier is a top-notch solution. It’s effective, efficient, and quiet, making it an excellent choice for both residential and commercial applications. We are extremely satisfied with its performance to date and feel that it fully deserves a 5-star rating.

The TLDR: Unit works great and draws about 540 watts (9KW per day) in my crawlspace. Crawlspace is now in the "goldilocks" humidity zone (between 40 and 60%).Full review:After noticing that my enclosed crawlspace humidity had been really high, like 75% average, over a couple months I discovered the dehumidifier I inherited (a Fral 50 pint) when I bought the house a few months prior had failed.I got several quotes from various crawlspace vendors with solutions ranging from vapor barrier replacement (2K), full encapsulation (5K) and just replacing the dehumidifier with a US made Aprilaire or Santa Fe (3K with installation!). Even buying one of those online and installing myself would still be 1500 to 2K for just the unit. I didn't have that much to spend. After looking at a bunch of other brands, I found this Moiswell unit.HouseFresh had previously reviewed this unit (positively) which I liked because it is an independent outfit. What I also liked verses the other competing brands on Amazon is that this unit will pull 70 pints of water at AHAM, which is the same amount as the Aprilaire at a third the cost. Other competing brands on Amazon sell similarly priced units but they have a lower rating (55). The unit that failed was rated for 50 pints and was barely keeping the humidity in check when it was working.I was concerned about power use and didn't know what to expect since it has a stated a power draw of 1000 watts and wanted a 16 amp breaker (likely a typo as I think only 15 and 20 amp breakers exist). I set it to a humidity of 45% and for the first week it was drawing about 10KW a day (about 540watts instantaneous). Now that the crawlspace is much drier, the energy usage per day has reduced to about 9KW it is also getting closer to Winter so its less humid outside now anyways (North Carolina). At my electric rate of $0.12/KWH that is about $32/month. The 30 day energy use in the picture above is only about 15 days of use.The manual states to clean the filter every 2 weeks. This seems a bit aggressive for a crawlspace. Aprilaire for example says every 6 months to a year for filter cleaning and I noticed other brands have similar intervals of every 6 months. I checked the filter at 2 weeks and it did not look like it needed cleaning. If I remember I'll update here in the future when I do see that the filter needs cleaning. The unit weights about 65lbs and you will likely want a second person to assist bringing it into the crawlspace.Definitely happy with the purchase.
