I was skeptical that a new antenna would help. I was picking up very little on my scanner. I've tried another antenna besides the one that came with my Whistler TRX-1 but this new antenna really made a difference. I'm picking up so many more calls that I ever have. This one really worked for me. I really recommend it!

Improved my Bearcat reception tenfold over the OEM rubber-duck antenna, very pleased with this purchase.

I have a Uniden BC125AT and was looking for a great antenna for my scanner. I found this one that picks up frequencies up to 45 miles away, and I was blown away. It works great and picks up a lot of traffic. If you have a ham radio or a scanner, then this is the antenna for you.

Pretty much this is the most highly recommended "upgrade antenna" on forums like Radioreference.com, and for good reason--solid performer, especially for VHF and UHF monitoring for scanners and (of course) use as an improved duck for amateur radio use. (Verified that it does peak around 146MHz and 440MHz with an antenna analyzer--yes, it's designed for ham use, but works quite well as a scanner antenna.)The one area where it's ever so slightly lacking (compared to some aftermarket antennas) is 700MHz/800MHz/900MHz bands, but again the antenna isn't quite designed for this (and honestly even though it's not designed for it, it STILL tends to work better than factory ducks in my experience). That said, it does well for about 90% of the scanning and amateur radio public would use it for. (Folks monitoring UHF, as well as MURS and VHF business bands as well as "low airband" and rail monitoring will be happy with this.)
