First let me say that after checking out some of the other reviews, I'm a little confused. They seem to be for another model vacuum. Some are bigger and or have a plastic tank. This review is for Dirt Devil 6-Gallon Corded Wet/Dry vac with the stainless steel tank. The first thing I noticed right out of the box is that the hose is not the one shown in the description, which is what I would call a typical shop vac size hose. Mine came with a smaller 1-1/4 inch hose. That is why I call it a garage vac. The smaller hose is easier to handle when vacuuming out your car, but not what I would use in my shop to do the heavy clean up. The vacuum does have plenty of power and its small size is easy to move around and store. It does have a surprisingly large filter for it size. You have to remove this filter and replace it with the provided foam filter if you are going to vacuum up water. While I can live with the hose being smaller, after all it is a small vacuum, my reason for only four stars is bags, or should I say, lack there of. I like having a bag in a shop vac, especial if I'm using it in a house, like when you're cleaning up sheetrock dust. This vacuum doesn't come with a bag, but the directions say you can use one and they even give the part number. However I have yet to find one anywhere, not even on the Dirt Devil web page. I'm thinking a generic 5 gallon bag might work. Something else you may want to think about is the price. I have found vacuums twice the size and almost twice the HP for the same price. But sometimes you pay for what you don't get. So if you don't need, or have the room for a big full blown shop vac that can suck up chunks of lumber and small animals on a daily bases, then this is a good one. Good for the garage.
