This is an awesome electronic drum kit. The setup was easy, the features seem to be limitless. You can sample, mix, equalize, all right in the included touchpad. You can connect it to headphones or your stereo set. The internal routing of the cables is an extremely nice touch. Being a novice drummer, I can't speak to the quality of or compare the sound to standard drums, but these do sound awesome! The snar, base, and symbals are all super sharp and crisp. For the price, this set seems to include many more features and a higher level of detail than the other kits in the same price bracket.

For the price of $800 this kits is beyond levels of similar priced drum sets. The quality of the drums are superb, the sound of the kit is amazing with a good set of headphones, and the interior routing of wires is awesome.Highly recommend! I will be going Donner in the future. Only thing is they sent me a Type C power plug and not a Type A.

I have been seeing Donner kits on Amazon for a while now and hadn't paid much attention as most seemed like very beginner kits. But I saw this particular kit and had the opportunity to check it out, so I placed my order. I have been playing drums for many years, and I have owned and played many e-kits over the years, mostly from the major brands (Yamaha, Roland, Alesis, etc.). This one came in one large box that includes everything and is pretty heavy. Once opened, all of the components were packed in smaller boxes that are labeled with what's inside. This includes the rack, drum pads, cymbal pads, pedals, hardware, drum module, cable snake, power adapter, sticks, manual and accessories. The packing was excellent! And I was actually pretty impressed that they fit all of this in one box.Given the size and features of this it, it was relatively easy to assemble, and it took about 45 minutes to unpack and set everything up. I would attribute the ease of set up to some really impressive innovations from Donner. I don't normally think of a rack as being a area for innovation but this thing is awesome! It comes folded without the main posts attached. To assemble, you just unfold the 3 main sections and put the 4 main posts in (all are labeled). That's it! It was probably the easiest rack I've ever assembled. And you can easily adjust the rack by loosening 2 knobs at the top of the 2 main posts and re-tightening. It takes seconds to do, and no drum key is needed. Also, all of the kit cabling is integrated into the rack as well as the mount for the module. Other manufacturers need to pay attention here. This is the way you build a better rack!!!Once the rack is up you attach all of the drum and cymbal mounts. They go on and adjust easily due to the hinged design. They are plastic but seem very durable and nothing moves once tightened. If you are not familiar with assembling an e-kit you may want to consult the documentation, but everything is very intuitive. To plug in the individual components, you run the short cables from a drum or cymbal to the labeled ports in the rack. Again, super clean, super-efficient and unlike any e-kit I have ever encountered.Regarding the drum and cymbal pads, these are really nice quality. The 10" snare pad and 8" tom pads are especially nice with metal hoops (with rubber guards) and a very nice "marble" wrap on the shallow shells. In my opinion these are definitely nicer than the drum pads on most other kits in this price range. The cymbals are plastic with a rubber covering (partial on the hi-hat and crash) and pretty typical of this level of kit. All of the drums and cymbals are multi-zone. Specifically head/rim on the drum pads, edge/choke on the crash and hi-hat and then a 3-zone bell/bow/edge ride cymbal. One other note here is there are 3 edge piezos in the drum pads (even the 8" ones). I have never seen this on a kit in this price range. Most have a single edge or center mounted piezo. Additionally, the hi-hat pedal and the included kick pedal are nice quality and durable as well. Again, better build quality than I have encountered on similar kits from other brands. The kit supports expansion by adding another tom and/or crash cymbal pad.Once everything was connected, I powered up the module and started playing around. The module is also super impressive in its design. There is one single control knob and everything else is done form the nice sized touch screen. It’s sleek and functional and looks like a premium device. Navigating the various functions is straight forward and intuitive in that I could easily poke around and figure things out. Most of the parameters can be adjusted either by on screen controls or by selecting the items on screen and using the control knob to change the values. Kits, Effects, config settings and learning functions are all easily to navigate. There's no way I could go into all of the features of this module in this review, but I must make note of the learning functions. The rudiment and groove library are great learning tools and the way they are implemented with the metronome and onscreen notation makes them very easy to use. As a learning tool for beginner to intermediate drummers, it is a simple and unique feature. There are lots of other cool features that make this kit worth considering as well. Again, there's too much to go into in this review but feature wise, nothing I know of in this price range has a module like this.Performance wise, there's some great and not so great things to report. Triggering wise, it is excellent. The pads are very sensitive and the triggering/isolation between head, rim shot, and side-stick sounds is fantastic out of the box. I've encountered little to no crosstalk even with everything on the integrated rack. The Bluetooth integration is great and works without issue. There are also some more advanced things this kit will support using the USB-C interface (another great choice). Without getting into any of that, it would certainly let this kit grow beyond just the included features. As far as the sounds, this is the not-so-great part. I will say that some are good and some are not, but you can definitely get some usable kits. The cymbal samples are the weakest area by far. So, while the features and the quality mostly punch above their level, the sounds are at or below their level when comparing with similarly priced kits.Overall, I think this is a great kit for the price. To my knowledge there's nothing in the $800 or so price range that has what this kit does feature wise. Sounds are subjective but this is where it's on par with others in this range. Some other kits will be better and some will be worse. So, if your goal is to find the best sounding kit in this range, this one may or may not be for you. For my take on this, I'd rather have the advanced features and superior quality with somewhat usable sounds because I can always trigger external sources for unlimited better sounds. I can't go back and add features or improve quality if they are not already there. Donner is definitely pushing the boundaries with features and innovations not found in kits in this price range. A few are not found even in premium level kits by the biggest brands. I am pleasantly surprised and impressed by this e-kit. It's a great option in the beginner to intermediate space. For more advanced drummers, this may be a good option as well depending on how you plan to use it. Personally, I'd love to see it with some bigger pads and a 2-piece hi-hat but that would increase the price for sure. That said, there are a lot of e-kits in this price range, and I think this one competes with or outclasses all of them.

The Donner Beat Electronic Drum Set is an incredible value for any drummer, whether beginner or advanced. The mesh drum pads feel great and are impressively quiet, perfect for practicing at home. The 12” cymbals with choke function add a realistic touch, and with 100 kits and over 1100 sounds, there’s endless creativity. Setup was easy, and connecting to the DONNER PLAY app made learning and jamming even more fun. Highly recommend for quality, features, and price!

This is a truly nice electronic drum set. The setup was far easier than I expected. It is quite cleverly designed. The sizing and placement are just right. It has such great sound as well! And is much lighter and easier to move around than an acoustic drum kit. You really can't go wrong with this.
