It gets the job done. Plain and simple. I used to have a nasty buzz in my stereo system that came and went, especially when I used the turntable. I had tried every configuration of power strips and electronics to no success. Finally bought this with some skepticism. Now I'm immensely satisfied with how it's completely eliminated the ground loop buzz. 100 dollars well spent. I plug in my stereo receiver to it.

I used this on a grounded 3 prong stereo pre-amp to eliminate a ground loop hum that was coming from a satellite receiver. Satellite receivers send power (in my case 9 volts DC) through the co-axial cable to the amplifiers in the dish. That's why the in-line co-axial transformer coupled ground lift adaptors wont work with sat receivers. They cant pass the DC voltage to power the sat dish amplifiers.Worked perfect in my system, completely eliminated all background hum.Extremely happy with the price, quality & performance of product.

I recently bought a beastly iMac i7 with 16 gigs of ram. I couldn't wait to hook it up and get recording. So in a rush I hooked everything up, my Presonus fp10 (via firewire), my Yamaha Hsm80's, and other equipment. When I started my brand new iMac I could hear a high pitched whine. So I quickly opened Propellerheads Reason 6 and the whine got louder. When I changed the bitrate in Reason the whine changed pitches. And whenever I would mouse over any icons on the iMac it would make a strange am static jumble noise. I was so upset, to the point where all I could do is research the net to try and figure out a fix to the problem (not sleeping very much). I even went to Sam Ash Music and bought a Monster Power Conditioner with Clear Sound, but the noise was still there, very frustrating! So I tried it all, a new firewire cable, hooking up the computer on a separate outlet altogether, the list goes on. Then I came across a forum and read a post from a guy that had the same problem and got the Hum-x. I was desperate at this point, so I ordered it on amazon and got overnight shipping (which was only $5.00 more than I would have originally paid)and received the Hum-x in the mail. I hooked the Hum-x into my power conditioner then plugged my iMac in the Hum-x and started my computer. It was whisper quiet. Amazing! I am so happy that I came across this. It's perfectly safe! All it does is take out the (whatever hertz, i think 60 hertz) ground loop while keeping your equipment grounded and safe. All of the new iMac's have a radio frequency issue. It's either something to do with the LED screens or the Firewire/USB port in conjunction with external audio devices. Pretty much what happens is the iMac becomes a transmitter, very much like an am radio. So the power cable pretty much becomes an antenna and it picks up ground loop frequencies (yes i did a ton of research). I'm not sure who to blame for the problem (could be apple, could be Presonus) but who care's this fixed it! If you have this frustrating problem, save yourself the headache get the Hum-x! I did and it worked beautifully. You will actually restart your computer a few times just to make sure you're not somehow missing the annoying nightmarish Whine that whould just not go away. Farewell Whine, go cry to someone esle!! LOLThe Hum-x works!!

This little puppy did the trick! For the past 2 or so years, my TV has had a fairly loud audio hum when hooked up to a Dish Network or DirecTV receiver with the component + red/white or yellow/red/white (analog) cables. I was also getting strange horizontal lines that would pan vertically. The only way I could get rid of everything was to move in my high def TV and hook it up with a digital HDMI cable, but that wasn't a permanent solution as the TV was kept in another room.I had tried just about everything to remedy the problem... from plugging everything in the room to the same outlet to running new cables from the dish. I was then told that my problem sounded like A/C hum. So I did some research and came across this gadget. Like several others have mentioned, I too was skeptical at first thinking that this couldn't solve my problem. However, since I tried just about everything besides having an electrician come to my house, I thought I'd give this a try since other reviewers mentioned it fixed their similar problem (thanks by the way for everyone that posted those). Here's some good usage info. My first attempt at using the Hum X failed miserably. I plugged it into the wall, plugged a power strip into it, and then plugged my TV and satellite receiver into the power strip. HuMmMmMmmMM--it was still there!!! So then I decided to unplug my computer and other gadgets that were connected to other outlets in the room, and to my surprise both the audio and video hums were gone! I then thought... "Wait a minute, maybe if I unplug the Hum X now and just plug the TV and satellite receiver into the power strip and leave everything else in the room unplugged then all would be good." But nope, still had the hum. So I plugged the Hum X back into the wall and all was good again. I then plugged all of my gadgets into the power strip connected to the Hum X and the hum was still gone. Yay, great product EBTECH!The Hum X seems pretty expensive to me; but since it works and has fixed a long-time irritating problem that nothing else seemed to fix, I am totally fine with paying $63 for it.
