Disclamer : I have 6 pairs of Edifier RT1280Ts and even bough a 7th pair as a gift for my brother. In my experience and opinion, RT1280Ts speakers are the best speaker ever made (for what they are and at that price). They are perfect. I use them in my arcades, sim racing rig, for my computers... So I was curious about the best Edifier was selling and I got a little more money this time. I am an ex-audiophile and have good ear and tried a lot of super high-end sound systems.First Impressions :The product is very well made and feels like it will last a lifetime. The speakers are very heavy. The included rca cables are OK I guess, but they are so thin and don't inspire confidence. Maybe they should only include the usb cable and nothing else instead? The remote is absolute sh... In fact 2 months later I still press the wrong buttons all the time. I want to change sound mode and I accidentally change input mode or even turn off the speakers. There is no tactile cue where your fingers are.I am dissapointed that there is not a subwoofer out like the RT1280Ts to plug a tactile subwoofer (like a ButtKicker) for gaming. More frustrating is that there is not a ground screw to plug a turntable ground. And only 1 RCA input is not enough. I tried using some adapter for the Balanced input to RCA but the sound was not right (this is normal, they don't expect the same voltage and impedence). My first experience was both impressed and dissapointed : The bass is absolutely pure, clean, crazy... It will punch you in the chest violently (like a live concert). But then the main problem revealed itself immediately. The highs are very violent, pinchy and hurt my ears. Don't worry it can be fixed. I will explain later how to adjust everything so it sounds great. So for the first 1-2 weeks, I did not like the highs. I listened at low volume so my ears would not bleed (I am dramatizing here). The sound mode on the remote did not fix anything. I though very seriously about returning the speakers. Then everything changed. I turned the Treble knob all the way down to cut the annoying (Discotheque-i) highs. From that point on everything became great. To get the best bass sound, you need to place the speakers 5 inches from the back wall and either sit close to the speakers or close to the opposite wall.So I tried everything : movies, videogames (new and retro), Apple music (USB and Bluetooth) but 98% of my listening is with a decent turntable. I tired about 200+ vinyls from the 50s to 2025. All kind of music. Overall this sound sytem is one of the best I have ever heard. They are really impressive, people won't beleive that that sound comes from such small speakers and will defenitely try to find a hidden sub in the room.Endless power to a point it becomes scary. Even to the max there is no distortion and everything seams effortless. The bass, mid and high all climb and stay together. The image is very vivid and there are a lost of space between the instruments. They sound definitely audiophile level. I estimate that it would cost you at least 3 000$ to approach the sound they produce with a traditional audiophile sound system. Actually they are better than my 5 000$ audiophile sound system that I sold 7 years ago. But don't forget that the room is the most important thing here. I am lucky to have 2 semi cathedral room and I they sound 100x better than what you normally can achieve in your home.I was affraid about that weird technology. Myself being more analog purist than modern digital audiophile. But I am glad I gave it a try. You may not realise it but these speakers are actually 2 MONO BLOCS. There is not connection between the speakers. The left speaker only has a power cable plug into the 110v. So my first fear was delay. So I played retro game on my 1ms gaming monitor and it has zero delay. More impressive is that the knobs to adjust the sound are digital. So the RCA/Balanced input are first converted to digital (with loosless super sampling) the sound is then adjusted and streamed by 5.8ghz to the other speaker. So what you hear is always digital in both speakers. They both sound pefectly identical. Nobody can tell that everything inside that thing is digital, it is simply perfect and maybe better than analog. One thing that is annoying is that when you adjust the knobs for bass and treble or change the audio mode (dynamic, monitor, classic, voice or custom) it takes 5 seconds to transition smoothly there. So it is very difficult to ear what that thing is actually doing. It animate smoothly to that setting very slowly. So it is not like an immediate switch. So it is difficult to ear the difference between these modes. Eventually you get used to that.Voice mode is useless and horrbile, maybe it is meant for listening to talk radio? Most of my time is in Dynamic 60%, 40% monitor. Classic is only used for death metal, not even classic music. But there is a custom mode also and now it is time to talk about the app.App are usually annoying, but here it is not the case. It is actually really basic and straight to the point and nothing else. You can controll everything from the app, you get the manuals, but it is mandatory for setting the custom sound mode (if you want to). And here is the best feature of these speakers for problematic recording that sounds horrible. You don't need to be in bluetooth input on the speakers to use the app. So I can play vinyl and adjust the sound very precisely at the same time from the app.So I created my custom mode for those horrible records to fix them and it works. Old YES vinyls sould terrible, we cannot hear the voice of Jon Anderson. So I created this mode, you can create many and name them in the app. But once you choose one, it will be attached permanently to the custom sound mode on the remote, so you do not need the app ever again other than to adjust it in the app. Since the voice was so low and the high were to tinny, I boosted the voice range and toned down the highs. This is my settings (by adjusting sliders in the app) :62hz 0db250hz 6db (voice range)1khz 6db (voice range)4khz 0db8khz -3db (tone down the highs)16khz -6db (tone down the highs)Final touhgts :-Turn that Treble knob to the minimum and forget about it.-Place the speakers 5 inches away from the back wall so that the rear bass reflex can work its magic.-I wil admit that if there is a weakness to these speakers it is the mids, they are fine but could be improved.-The sound may be too bright sometimes.-What you get for that price is unbelivable, they will probably be the best sound system you will ever hear or own.-They will impress your friends for sure.-Be warned that they do not sound loud because the sound is pure but when you go outside your home and you can still hear them clearely you will realise how powerful they truly are.-All kind of music sound amazing on these.-At high volume they sound and feel exactly like a live concert.-They are super precise and fast for brass instruments and classic.-These speakers will reveal the hidden gold in music, you will discover the emotion and thrills of music like you never experienced before (unless you go to concerts).-Absolute buy.Message to Edifier :-Create a better remote control-Remove the included RCA cables from the package-Cut the super painful high crap (I should not have to adjust treble)-Add a sub out-Add another rca input like RT1280Ts-Improve the mids (because the bass is already perfect)-There should be a sound mode that boost mids-Add a "Tube" sound mode to warm the sound
