I wasn’t quite sure what to expect for $36, but I’m relatively pleased by what I’ve seen of these pickups so far. Overall manufacturing quality is decent, though the pickup rings are very low quality and I wouldn’t’ recommend using them unless you have nothing else. The pickups themselves seem fine, but they’re not well packaged and the covers are covered with small swirls, scratches, and dents.I’m not going to be using them for a build any time soon, so I tested them with my multimeter to get a sense of their properties. Both pickups produced clear readings, indicating there were no shorts or breaks in the windings. They’re also wound a little hotter than I expected. I anticipated something more in the 9k Ohm range, but these read 11.98k (bridge) and 11.90k (neck). I can’t say for certain what that will mean in terms of tone (especially since I assume these contain low quality magnets), but those numbers are encouraging. The covers are soldered onto the base, so I didn’t want to break those joints to pull the pickups out. I still wanted to check if they were potted, though, so I unscrewed the bobbin screws and pole pieces and found some wax residue beneath them. They don’t seem to be as heavily waxed as pickups from Epiphone, but it’s nice to know there’s at least some wax there to cut down on microphonic feedback. If you’re looking for a replacement set for a higher end guitar, these clearly wouldn't be the best choice. But if you’re just looking for a budget set for a project guitar, or to upgrade a single coil set on a beginner instrument, these could be a decent option that’s easy on the wallet.4 stars

These are fine for basic guitar projects or as a slight upgrade to the pickups that come with your more affordable DIY kit guitars. You will likely want to use the rings from the kit tho as the ones that come with these pickups aren't the best. They're pretty amazing considering you're basically paying less than 20 bucks a pickup! If you're like me and you like to put really nice pickups into more affordable guitars and need something to put back in when it's time to sell those guitars, these might work well for you. I haven't had time to install them into anything yet but a quick multimeter test indicates they are working and based on the weight they will probably sound ok and be appropriate for your entry level to intermediate guitars.

First off they stink like auto parts cleaner. Second the pole piece screws are not even screwed in. They are pressed into the gobs of wax seeping out of these things. Avoid at all costs!!

Got these for some project guitars I’ve been working on. They wire pretty well and I have been impressed with the quality. They do fit like a standard humbler and so far sound quality has been very good. Room for improvement but for the price they are great!
