Installed this filter and turned the well pump back on after doing some work on the pump and it immediately clogged up but I opened the petcock spun the filter wiper and it completely cleaned itself off in seconds and drained everything out the bottom.

The screen works great. I have too much silt for the screen . I should have gotten the automatic flushing filter. This would work good if you have very light sand problem. I have the #20 mesh.

We needed a pre-filter on the water coming off our well to keep any crud from fouling our 33 sprinkler zone valves. Everything I found that would provide enough flow for a 1-1/2 inch PVC pipe at 60 PSI and maintainable were prohibitive, so I came up with an idea when I found these spin down filters. I laid out a 6 port PVC manifold fed by 1-1/2 inch, with six 1 inch taps. Four of those taps have these filters that recombine back to 1-1/2 PVC inline with my main well trunkline, with the other two as spare ports. What this accomplishes is four times the flow of a larger single filter, without the huge price tag. Maintenance is a breeze and a spare parts kit is available as an option, or just buy spare filters and also have a new bowl when you change out the screens. I was unable to find a ready-made manifold that had enough spacing so cut and glue worked just fine.

I found that this spin-down was very easy to install and even easier to use and clean. For what you pay you get a lot of nicely made items that fit together well. If I could I’d request a larger unit and filter. My well is loaded with turbidity and this filter loads up in 10 days. That’s too soon to be having to flush out the filter, good thing the actual filter is reusable. Overall it’s a very nice product.
