Typical Spec Example E6011: E is for electrode. The next two numbers ie.60, 70 or 80 indicates the tensile strength of the rod for example 60,000. The third number tells the welding position; ie.1=All position ie.2=Flat or Horizontal position ie.4=Flat, Horizontal, Overhead and Vertical Down position. The fourth number indicates the type of current to be used and coating of the rod; ie.0=Cellulose Sodium, with deep penetration, use Direct Current Electrode Positive ie.1=Cellulose Potassium, with deep penetration, use AC or Direct Current Electrode Positive, or Direct Current Electrode Negative ie.3=Titania Potassium, with light penetration, use AC or Direct Current Electrode Positive ie.8=Low Hydrogen, Iron Powder, with medium penetration use AC or Direct Current Electrode Positive. I been piling metal for years now. Most times it’s a quick fix on something and I’m done. It’s usually pretty ugly but functional. I get to welding a bigger project about once a year. After a couple hours, I kinda get my mojo back and the welding looks better. But again, I’m not a great welderWith this rod, and I’m using a $135 Hitbox 110/220v welder , on 110v, that I bought here. This rod went down like butter! Nice welds right out of the gate. I must have gotten the welder settings right as well. But it went down clean without my usual “stacking turds” look! I will definitely be buying this rod again for my home projects…and work projects, if they let me weld at work!

I am super new at welding and these are my first rods purchased. I watched a lot of YouTube videos and these were recommended for beginners as easy to use and store.They work great and spark immediately as soon as one touches the steel. Never have to tap it more than once. Because I have never tried any other rod and am new at this, then this review may not mean a lot to experienced welders.
