Lightweight nylon material is comfortable and water-resistant. Great for hiking or boating. the design is fashionable, but not as functional as I would like. The leg pockets are deep, but narrow, and hard to get your hand into, and with the light material, there's a concern about weight of items in the pockets. Overall, ok, but certainly not a "tactical" hiking short. The self-belt is almost useless.

These are very comfortable shorts and seem well made. The have a small amount of stretch and are great for hiking. The legs are not overly wide, which is nice when you have skinny legs. They have several different zipped pockets and the rear pockets have flaps to secure your wallet.The only thing I didn't like was the belt that came with them. It is adjustable, but has a tendency to slip while hiking so requires continued adjustments. I just replaced it with a belt I like and that solved the problem.These are a good as some of the name brands for less money.

I take a 36" waist, ordered a 36" waist and it fit nicely. The belt is cheap and basically useless (- 1 star for that), but I just used a different belt. A 1 3/4" (4.4 cm) width belt will thread through the loops with some difficulty, and is uncomfortable, but thinner belts are fine. Have not had them long enough to have anything to say about the durability, but they are comfortable to wear in SC heat and humidity and look nice.

I purchased this specifically for hiking. The comments I provide only apply to my hiking activities. I wanted to give these shorts a 2-1/2 star rating, but Amazon review doesn't allow that, so I rounded down.The shorts are lightweight and flexible and probably good for a moderate temperate climate, but not as breathable in a warmer (80+ and humid) environment as you would be led to believe. These shorts are adequate for short hikes (- With a pant inseam of 32" the 10" inseam on this short is just a bit to long - it has a tendency to drag on the front of the knee creating issues on longer hikes. I would recommend a 9" inseam (unfortunately not available for this product) to prevent this and the hem seams from rubbing of the inside of the thigh.- The side 'bellow' pockets are too large and sit too far forward. When filled with smaller items such as a cell phone, the items tend to shift and end up settling on the front part of the leg - not ideal when hiking.- The belt leave a lot to be desired. While the clasp does hold firmly, sizing the belt is very difficult and almost impossible to perform while on a hike. Additionally, only a channel is provided making replacing the belt hard.
