After removing this bit ratchet from the box I was disappointed. It was virtually nonfunctional. The tool would skip and bind while spinning and most of the time I couldn't budge the directional lever. I saw no apparent way to disassemble the ratchet for inspection and was on the verge of giving up on it. In a last ditch effort I decided to completely douse the external surfaces with firearm lubricant. After doing this I started moving all the parts while rotating the tool in my hands. Things slowly started to improve as the oil seeped through the cracks and worked itself around. The ratchet is now usable. I wouldn't say it works well but it is usable at least.

I own several Galvanox tools and they have never failed me. Their lifetime warranty also inspires confidence. In this case, the ratchet fits my Leatherman surge perfectly and securely, and won't fall out accidentally. It holds both the flat Leatherman bits as well as normal 1/4 inch bits very securely with strong spring retention. The bits do not slip out the other end as in some cheap ratchets. The black finish is not smooth as in product pictures, but looks like the finish on some parkerized gun tools. I quite like it.

The minute I saw this I was intrigued. I love the idea of adding a tiny ratchet head to my Leatherman, and making it capable of being a bit ratchet or socket wrench. And this does the job. It takes both standard 1/4” 1” hex bits, and a (not included) 1/4” hex to 1/4” socket wrench adapter. It will lock in place using the typical Leatherman bit retention lock. The sizing is exactly what I expected - it’s fairly compact, although chunky enough that it won’t easily fit into a lot of OEM carry cases along with a Leatherman tool. The finish is black oxide of some kind. It’s OK, but does seem to scrape off pretty easily. There are some other niggles. My biggest beef is that the neck that inserts into the tool is just a smidge undersized. This gives back and forth wiggle on the tool in use. There’s also quite a bit of play with the bit holder inside the head. It just doesn’t have quite the tight, precise feel you get from actual Leatherman products. The ratchet action is…OK. It’s a fairly fine tooth ratchet, advertised at 72 teeth. However, the ratchet action feels rougher, and has a lot more back-drag, than I prefer. I have a Gearwrench bit driver that has a much nicer action, came chromed, and cost only a bit more.In actual use it has performed as expected. You won't be breaking suspension parts loose with this, but it operated as expected for a couple around-the-house repairs. If you are looking for a bit / ratchet head to help complete a miniature Leatherman toolkit, this is a worthy addition. Given the general price structure of Leatherman accessories, I think this is a good buy.

I love multitools. I've carried a Leatherman for over twenty years, and until this year it was the same one. Now I've upgraded from a Wave to a Surge and abolutely love it. I really enjoy the Leatherman world with all of the accessories you can get, and I'm always looking for new ways to make my Leatherman better. When I saw this ratchet attachment I had to try it.It arrived in a plain box and contained just the ratchet. It was in near-mint condition.Use it easy. This fits in the flat-bit screwdriver tool in the Leatherman. You can then use one of the flat bits, or a regular 1/4 bit, in the ratchet. If you get the little adaptor you can also use this with 1/4 sockets! This thing is VERY cool! With it I have a full sideways ratcheting screwdriver. With my little adaptor I can also use it for sockets which is probably how I'll use it the most. I don't often run into situations where I need a sideways screwdriver, but for sockets? All the darn time. This ratchet has a lot of teeth, and you can hear each click very clearly. It's held up well to my testing, though like with anything about my Leatherman I haven't abused it. I prefer to use these for lighter jobs and grab a full tool if it's going to be a tough job.Overall I'm thrilled with this little ratchet attachment for my Leatherman. Galvanox makes a number of Leatherman accessories and I've been pleased with most of their offerings. This one is another success.I recommend!

I got this to use with my Leatherman Wave multitool. It has vastly reduced the time it takes to remove fasteners. Its small, so it can fit in a door pocket on my jeep. The finish is black steel. The ratcheting mechanism works smoothly. Main thing is I can now use standard 1/4 inch bits. That allows a lot more flexibility than only the provided bits.
