If you like apples to apples, you would LOVE this game. It's so much fun. I would highly recommend using Apple Music if you have it. It was harder to play using Youtube. I wish there were more games like this!

I got this and two other expansion packs ('80s and 2000s mixes) to use with the main 'Game That Song' game pack.This game is straight forward and easy to play. Actually, the game can be played with any of the expansion packs without the purchase of the main game pack.Each player draws three cards. When it's your turn, you play a card with a topic. Other players then choose songs on the cellphones or MP3 players that apply to the card played. The person who played the card decides the most appropriate song played, and that person then gets to keep the card. First person to win five cards wins the game. Simple.The most difficult part was getting a couple of the older people we sometimes play games with to figure out how to find songs on youtube or some other service. It can be a problem trying to play a single line in a song or a chorus that takes forever to get to, but if you can get over that, it's an easy game to interact with and have fun.Each expansion pack adds 50 cards to the parent deck. The game is recommended for ages 14 and over. Note that the expansion packs, while labeled 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s do not require songs from those eras--the cards have topics from that era, but any song that applies to the topic works.Good fun.

We have the original game plus three expansion packs, the 80s, 90s, and 2000. This one so far has been our favorite one. Mainly because my husband and I were in high school and college in the 90s and know way more songs than our kids :) This game gets competitive in our house...and with all the different age ranges we enjoy mixing all the expansions into the main game, it's more enjoyable because than everyone has something they recognize. As other reviewers mentioned the game plays like apples to apples or cards against humanity, where one player reads the prompt, everyone else chooses a song that fits, and the one who read the prompt judges or chooses their favorite. You get to a certain number of cards and win. Everyone in my house has a phone or tablet that is linked to our Spotify account, so they have a lot of music at their fingertips, which is helpful. You could certainly play this without the original game, the rules are very clearly laid out and the theme packs stand-alone also.
