Very good phone. I was a bit worried about the negative reviews, but knowing how exaggerated gringos can be and how they want everything the easy way, it was to be expected. The phone is built in Germany, doesn't have many indicators, it's small, with great range, sounds good, the answering machine works perfectly, and for those who say it doesn't have a manual, in the box, you only find a quick guide and a web address where you can find the complete manual on how to set up the device.

I'm using this on my landline which is not my primary phone. The phone is small and seems well constructed. Voice quality is good. The speaker phone works effectively. But I've had many problems.-- The manual leaves a lot to be desired. It's written in decent English (unlike some Panasonic manuals) but details are sketchy, and many things are not explained. I was able to set up the machine, but it wasn't easy. The manual that came with the phone is especially skimpy. There's a more complete manual that you can find online, but it also leaves a lot out.-- After about 3 weeks my phone stopped playing back messages. It recorded them, and told me that they were there, but wouldn't play them. This required a hard reset (which lost all the messages and required that I set up the phone again). The manual doesn't tell you how to do this, and I spent a good half hour with tech support figuring it out. We had to do it a couple of times before we had success. Pretty frustrating.-- Support is in the far east, and for some reason it runs on UK time. So if you're in the US, you have to get up early to reach them. Once you get through, you must listen to a "we're sorry, all agents are busy" announcement that repeats over and over *with no pause*. It's almost a form of torture to wait on hold while listening to this. When you reach an agent, the person is working from home (I could hear his kids in the background), voice quality is very poor, and there's a very long delay on the line, which makes communication challenging.-- When playing back messages, you can't prevent the machine from s l o w l y telling you the date and time of every message. Most of my messages are from telemarketers and are just silence. I just want to erase them quickly. Can't do that.-- When playing back messages, a voice announces the date & time for each message. But it makes incomprehensible mistakes with the date. A message might be labeled "recorded seventh tenth". I have no idea what that means, and I have tried every setting imaginable and none solve it.-- The screen is quite bright and readable. But this might be a problem if you want to keep the phone by your bed at night. There's no way to dim the screen. On the plus side, the answering machine has a setting where it will pick up the call before it rings. Since most of my calls are junk, this is very nice -- the calls go straight to the answering system and if it's a human, I can hear the call (screen it) and pick it up.And the Eco Dect setting cuts radiation almost to zero when the phone is on the base (I tested it). But you have to manually turn it on -- it's not on by default.Update -- I've now had to reset the device many times. Each time the problem is the same. There are messages, the counter shows they are there -- but you can't play them back. The solution is to reset it, which means that the messages are lost. And you then have to rerecord your outgoing message and reset all custom settings. I now have a cheat sheet so I can do this fairly quickly, but what a waste of time. I've corresponded with tech support many times -- they know very little about this device and have no solution other than to reset it.Bottom line -- look elsewhere for your next answering machine. This one is much more trouble than it's worth. I regret buying it and will be replacing it with a Panasonic.

I spent the extra money on this phone and wanted to like it as it's almost the only one not made in China. I guess I traded cheesy in for German uber engineering. Calls are easy to make and receive and build quality is good. My first problem with it is when a call does come in and you press the red end call button it doesn't silence the ringer. Annoying when you have small ones that nap. That should just be a given in 2023 and that leads into my over all problem with the phone. The controls just are not intuitive and if they're not intuitive to someone in their mid-thirties who has been using cordless phones and cell phones forever then it's just not intuitive. I'm pretty competent too.I'm all for reading your owners manual but to say that needs to be done for basic functions on a phone is a bit foolish to me. Phone does work well call wise though and is made in Germany.
