This tool creates mirror smooth mating surface on the flare. The amount of strength that is needed to form the flare is reasonable. This tool appears to be built sturdily and to high tolerances. Case and point, the tool grabs the pipe tightly without deforming the pipe.This is a knock-off of other tools that a lot of pros seem to be using. A lot of pros may also use this tool. The important point here is that the design works very well!For the non-professionals who are planning to use this tool, ignore the reviews that report that the cone is crooked. The cone is designed to be eccentric (off-center). By mounting the cone this way, only a small portion of the surface of the cone actually touches the tubing as the cone is being pressed into the tubing. This drastically increases the pressure that is applied at the contact point. Secondly, there is a clutch mechanism built into the tool so that when forming the flare it will stop pushing into the tubing once the forming cone has gone far enough.The package comes with both metric dies and SAE dies. I was pleased to see that the package also contains a nice deburring tool and a very high quality pipe cutter.

Syke! It took a while to get a handle on this tool, but once I did, flaring a line became a lot easier. Took a total of 5 tries before I got it. Biggest issue was after flaring it to the correct size, the nut would get stuck on the flare. I thought I had the size wrong, and tried to flare it at a slightly smaller size with disastrous results. Turns out, all i really needed to do was turn the nut so the threads cleared the flare.

Easy to use and makes your install look clean and tidy. I hate it when the extra length of line set is coiled up and then connected. I prefer to cut and flare the lines to the correct length. The line sets from the mini split suppliers are now mostly metric sizes and while the low pressure side can be done with a SAE flare tool the smaller line doesn't clamp hard enough wit a SAE 1/8". This set has both the SAE and Metric so you don't have to carry two clamping bars. Not only that but it works very well and makes a great flare
