Tired of too many junk calipers, I ordered these and the $30 Kynup ones to use at home. Both appear very nice and well made. The rails are all hardened stainless. The display housings are metal unlike the plastic ones on the expensive ones I use at work giving these nice heft and feel. I would say the ones at work have a bit smoother motion than either of these but these are still fine. Both the Kynup and S&F are the same for smoothness. Display is excellent on this and repeatable. Having ordered both, the Kynup display is larger still and a little nicer but both are superb. Also I prefer the buttons on the bottom of the housing but these are fine where they are and more in line with what people are used to. The case on this is better though than the Kynup with better latches and internal rubber bumpers so they can't rattle around in the case. The Kynup case is formed to the calipers but there is room to rattle around in it. I could not confirm accuracy well but both were within .0005" of the calibrated Mitutoyo and Brown and Sharpe ones I use at work. Both of those are close to $200 each. While I'm required to use calibrated ones at work, if I had the option, I would much prefer to use either of these new ones over either of those. These feel and look like a much higher caliber caliper. I had no issues with the battery door on either when installing the battery. I saw a few comments on that but doors on these are both metal trays.

I occasionally need to measure things and be within 1 or 2 thousands of an inch. That's why I got this tool. It's really easy to use - it operates smoothly and the LCD display is easy to read. It seems very sturdy and well made, which is why I chose this one over some that were half the price. It comes with a nice, heavy protective case and I think that's an indication that the manufacturer feels that this is a quality tool and should be protected. I keep the caliper stored in the case at all times. This is not the type of tool you want rattling around in a toolbox.I tested it on an old set of feeler gauges that I have been using for at least 60 years - I measured the 0.005", 0.100", and the 0.020" and they all measured within 0.001" (one thousandth of an inch). That's enough accuracy for my use and any differences might have been that the feeler gauges were worn.5 Stars for an accurate and well made tool that meets my needs.

Smooth operation. As accurate as I need as a hobbyist. Quality case. Only drawback, the jaws slide too easily. Need to keep a slight grip on object or turn the locking screw when measuring. I’m happy.

This is a well built device, sturdy and of good quality; it's all metal. At least everything that meets the eye, bar the LED screen. It's quite a precise measuring instrument and I found it reliable enough to measure tolerance and gaps during technical/engineering work.I like the protective case, it send a clear message that this instrument is to be treated with care and not be thrown around the workshop. When I opened it, the calipers were inside, wrapped again in protective plastic. From its slightly hefty weight, I could tell this was a quality instrument. I was intrigued that it appeared the LED screen looked dull; luckily it was just the protective film.Very thoughtful of the vendor to provide a spare battery. I was able to open the battery compartment; a "prying" key is provided for that purpose. Because that key is pointy, I thought I was supposed to poke some hole to get the compartment to pop open, but actually I just needed to use the pointy end to "pull" or flip open the compartment. All good.
