I'm grateful to the girl demonstrating in the video how to pierce the eggs (still managed to break one, but it definitely had a thin shell). As far as my hopes of getting perfectly shelled eggs, I think this item might have to be used with the "How to peel a boiled egg" YouTube tutorials, to get the best results ( I tend to add eggs to cold water and then boil--the peeled eggs looked hideous; apparently, you need to shock the egg white into shrinking from the shell, with the temp. change of dunking the raw egg(s) into already boiling water...then cooking for whatever doneness you want, followed by an immediate 15 min. ice bath, before attempting to crack/de-shell. I don't boil eggs very often, so it should be interesting to see how this piercer works in conjunction with online advice, for better results.

this is easily the thing that results in the easiest to peel hard boiled eggs i have ever made, and i was a freaking culinary student! old eggs peel great, fresh eggs peel great, ice bath or no ice bath, didn’t even bother testing baking soda. the eggs peel easy every single time. i will grant, though, that using an icebath made the egg itself more stable when peeling so you don’t need to be as gentle but even a completely fresh out of the pot egg peeled easily and only lost a tiny bit of eggwhite cuz i was rushing a little too much. only caveat is that you should wipe off the needle after use to ensure longterm cleanliness. in all cases, this thing fully deserves 5 stars and i’d personally give it 6 if i could.in short, if you like hard boiled eggs, buy one of these.boiling times used after bringing water to a full rolling boil:10 minutes: full hard boil, yolk fully cooked unless immedistely peeled, no green yet so this is the sweet spot for making egg salad and deviled eggs and the like.8 minutes: not quite fully cooked, maybe 40-50% yolk cooked with goey core.6-7 minutes would likely result in cooked whites but raw yolk if that is what you’re looking for ( i prefer egg salad though so i didn’t test this duration yet)

Love this little kitchen gadget for eggs and I love the magnet that is attached to when not in use it’s stuck to the fridge

This gadget works perfectly!! I followed my usual routine (salt and baking soda in the boiling water and immediate ice bath after boiling) but using this thing before boiling the eggs was a game changer. I took each egg from the ice water and shook it in a glass as usual to break up the shell and the shells slid off with one hand! It worked on every single egg for all 3 dozen that I boiled?!? No mess, no lost eggs due to non peeling, no sore thumb from scraping the shell and membrane from the eggs. Amazing! The safety lock works perfectly and the magnet is REALLY handy. For 5 bucks, just buy it! You’ll love it !
