This thing is designed to grab the crankshaft pulley and hold it with out slipping. The only reason I gave it four stars is because I wish it was at least 6 in longer. Some of these crankshaft pulley bolts need to be torqued then turned 90° and then sometimes even another 60. That is a lot of pressure. Just wish it was a little bit longer for more torque.

Reading some of the other reviews, I almost did not buy this, but I have to say, I had a totally different experience than those with complaints about its quality. It looks kind of cheap in the pictures, but it is a heavy duty tool with thick thick metal components. The arms that are used to lock the vibration dampener/harmonic balancer in place can be easily adjusted and once you find the spacing that works, you can tighten down the set screw holding them together to make sure they stay in that position. Others wrote that it was a single use tool and it fell apart... I am not sure if I got a better version or they were using theirs on massive truck parts or something, but it worked flawlessly for me and is definitely still in the exact shape I received it in after its first successful use. I'd recommend this for sure.

This worked perfectly to hold camshaft sprockets for a Subaru Ej22 engine from my 1997 impreza outback wagon. It worked far better than any of the old ways I would try to hold the pulley like a strap wrench or really big channel lock pliers, it was cheap, strong, and effective!

Read the reviews and it seems that other's had issues with the tool breaking. Decided to take a flyer and sure enough- I too had the same problem. When it arrived, it "seemed" to be well made. However, in actual use, it just didn't hold up. My cam bolt is torqued to 68 Ft Lbs and while trying to break it free, I heard a snap and the pin on the movable arm broke off and dropped out. Ultimately, I suspect the end weld *assuming it isn't just a press fit* just is not up to snuff. I suspect I could repair this by putting the pin back into the arm and welding around the shoulder of the pin where it meets the arm but at this point I just decided to use an old piece of timing belt and a chain wrench to hold the belt sprocket as the chain wrench has a longer handle for more leverage. My opinion, don't purchase.

Funciona sin problema, aunque la pintura se cae un poco de la parte que hace contacto
