This thread is definitely reflective - exactly what I wanted. However it is impossible to use on an embroidery machine. It will do 20 stitches max before breaking, unthreading, or shredding. Tried all the YouTube/Facebook group suggestions (changing density, slowing the machine down etc) with no success. 20 minutes into what should be a 6 minute project it didn’t even make it through the first letter. Don’t waste your money. Use a silver or white. Or appliqué a reflective vinyl.

I got this to use as part of a plied yarn for my handspun wool. I love having the reflective thread for making hats and headbands that can be worn hiking and running. Because I am not using this in a sewing machine, I don't know how it would thread into a machine, but I can tell that this is a slippery, splitty material. One part of the strand is a shiny gray fiber, like a rayon, and another ply is a reflective thread that "lights up" under directed light. However, the thread is still very flexible and thin. I hold the cone near my spinning wheel, and ply it with a strand of wool, and it makes a thin, but nicely reflective yarn.

At least for me this thread would break several times during a project . Followed all the steps. It is reflective . I just couldn’t find a setting that would allow a project to complete without it breaking multiple times

My wife does a lot of machine embroidery and is always looking for new threads to include in her projects. She liked the idea of a reflective thread, possibly to do reflective designs on coats or backpacks. However, this thread has proven to be somewhat difficult to work with. Her home-use embroidery machines (Brother DreamMachine and BabyLock Valiant) tend to shred the thread, even when set on the slowest speed. She can get it to work on her commercial grade BAI 15 needle embroidery machine, but only at slow speed. She tells me that this behaves very similarly to other metallic threads she's used before. But, once the project is done, the finished stitches look good, and the thread is surprisingly reflective.
