One of the things that drew my attention to this fountain pen, is the pattern that is on it. The contrast of the gold upon the black is quite pleasing to look at. After filling the equipped converter with ink, it took a little time for the ink to fully reach the tip, but once it did it wrote quite smoothly. I was impressed by the fine width of the lines. One thing to note though is that you need to be a little careful when putting in the converter because depending on how you hold the pen when doing this the nib section can unscrew from the main housing, which is nice because you can get a better cleaning, but you have to be a little careful and is something to be aware of. One thing that would be nice is the addition of an instruction sheet (or even a pdf) which would help those that are not familiar with fountain pens.They also have this same pen with a "long knife medium" nib which (from what I understand) has variable line widths depending on the angle. It would be nice to compare the two and if I end up getting one I will update this review.

HongDian did it again! I have the two Forest pens by them and they write very smoothly with extra fine nibs. So I grabbed the black and gold N23 with the engraving and the three rabbits. A friend told me that 2023 is the year of the rabbit and with three on one pen (Two on the outside, and one on the nib) it should bring a lot of good luck. Well it sure did with the beauty of the pen, and the nib! This nib is an extra fine (0.4mm) and it puts down a very nice fine line (my fav) . I filled it with diamine blue/black ink and it is so smooth it is like writing on a piece of glass. You can post it, but I am a little afraid to do so due to that pretty engraving even though the cap does have a protective inner sleeve. You really don’t need to, but know that even though it is a brass pen, it is very light. No, it won’t be my pocket edc pen, but it is my everyday desk pen. 5 stars for writing, beauty, and fitting nicely in my hand!

Allow me to start this review by saying that this pen is a stunner to look at. I got it in black and gold and it looks beautiful from all angles. The rabbits are there but subtle which I love.I had to knock a star because although the description page says that the pen is made of metal it feels like plastic because of the material used to put the design on the outside. I love a cold metallic heavy fountain pen and this does not have that feel. It still feels good in the hand and when it is loaded, it has the weight that it needs to but it does not scratch that feeling I adore. I write a lot and I reach way more for my other pen than this one.The extra fine nib writes a bit more like a fine/medium nib and it is a very wet pen. It gives it a nice flow. I don't see having problems with this pen on a practical level.I would recommend this pen if you don't mind the slightly plasticky feel.
