I love this simple little amp, and I love it all the more perched atop a 4x12 cab like an ant on an elephant.Hotone fit all the absolute essentials in this little amp. While there are also no flashy extras, it doesn't feel like anything is missing either. I opted against other similar small amps as I feel a 3 band EQ is essential, and a 1 knob EQ is just too limited. While it would be nice if the Hotone Nano had a built-in reverb, it does have send and receive jacks (remarkable for an amp so small and affordable) for no-compromises reverb and looping. The tone is great - I've owned a small Vox amp that was fun but limited mostly by its small speaker, and the Hotone takes the same midrangey crunch with the freedom to put it into a proper set of speakers. I debated between this and the Purple Wind, but the Purple Wind seemed a little more one-note and not very capable of cleans. The British Invasion, on the other hand, has some great cleans and a gentle sweep into classic 60's crunch. With the gain low, it's great for all sorts of clean if you tweak the EQ (cut the mids for a more Fendery sound). With the gain at 1 o'clock, it's got a natural, bluesy bit of crunch that's very flexible depending on the dynamics (and pickups) you use. Crank the gain all the way and it's all rock n' roll. It doesn't ever get into modern hard rock or metal levels of gain on its own (not even with a quad rail humbucker, I tried), but like most amps, it can do metal well enough when paired with the right pedal. The volume is impressive for the size but not terrifically loud. It's great for bedroom practice, and when cranked it can absolutely get loud enough to annoy the neighbors, but it won't cut it with a drummer (...maybe a really gentle jazz drummer?). The problem here is headroom; if you just want to cause a ruckus, it can get loud, but as soon as you need the gain rolled back for a clean sound, you'll no longer have the volume to keep up. Keep in mind that I'm using this through a 4x12, and if you're using it through a 1x12 or smaller, expect it to be a fair bit quieter. All around this is a great basic amp with a classic and versatile range of tones.

Perfect litle practice amp, I got the thunderbass, heart attack and now this brit invasion.I got Marshall, Mesa, fender and traynor all tube amps, and to the sound quality of those nano legacy heads, you gets really close to the real deal.Hook that litle 5w amp to a v30 or other quality speaker and you get a really fun to play rig. That brit invasion is ac30 like, may not sound exactly like one, but got a great sound of its own.It does get more noisy than other nano heads, it's because, for some reason, they are more fussy with the power supply.I put the 3 power supply on an oscilloscope, and found that they have different noise level, some are more noisy than others. If you got annoying noise level than try an other power supply that match the genuine one.

There are many reviews and demos on youtube of this product so I do suggest you check them out as hearing it is the best way to assess it. I am lucky enough to have a Celestion 10 inch 30 watt Greenback to play it though and it is fab! Takes pedals well too (I only use delay / reverb) and is plenty loud enough in my front room to play along with to backing tracks through the aux in. Simply brillaint sounds , very flexible, solidly built piece of kit. It is the centre of my home recording setup now, love it.
