If for some reason you need this short hammer, it's OK, but it is not very useful due to the short handle. You can't get any head speed on it to effectively use the weight. Buy a 10" handle hammer instead.

I noticed the handle crooked in two way. It was twisted to the left and tilted to the right. So strikes did not feel natural. Returned it and a second one with the exact same defect. Poor manufacturing for an entire batch with zero quality control. Guess I'll be returning this a second time.

This is an impressive little bit of kit. I'm going to try not to be offended by the title of the listing - 'for women" indeed - and just concentrate on the item in hand. And it does fit in the hand, comfortably, and ergonomically. The shaft of the handle is coated in rubber, and the rubber has multiple ridges and patterns that ensure a good grip. The listing states that the handle "is rubber" and that's clearly can't be the case entirely (rubber coated, or with a rubber sheath) or it would be boing-ing around like toy. I can't say for sure what the inner of the shaft is made of. My money is on some sort of plastic but I don't know. The listing does mention that the hammer is made of "high quality 45 carbon steel" and this certainly seems likely of the hammer head. It is extremely heavy, sturdy, and hard. It appears to be well crafted into shape, and up to the tasks mentioned. There is a small downside however and that is that where the shaft meets the hammerhead, the glue remains, it's bit untidy and is the only poorly finished part of the tool. Unfortunately though its very important the glue that holds the hammerhead onto the shaft is beyond reproach! The hammer itself states it is a 1lb hammer - it's etched into the metal. The listing states it a 1.24lb hammer though? Elsewhere in the listing it states it is 576g in weight; its definitely not that. There's a little hole on the bottom of the handle so you could threat through a leather cord or whatever and hang it up.I really appreciate the small size of this implement, it means you are able to work at close quarters and hopefully with a more accurate aim. it's also easy to store and move around. It probably DOES work better for people with less upper body strength and/or smaller body size - but it also works for everyone else, I presume.A good tool for everyone's toolbox.Four stars.

This small hammer is weighty but easier to wield due to the small handle. It has a good grip, and is perfect for small DIY jobs around the house. However, the glue joining the hammer to the handle is evident and untidy, and the handle has some frayed bits of plastic.

Somehow I missed or forgot about the mini sledge. This is a great little hammer. With such a short handle, you've got 1lbs right above your fist. The handle is molded such that it feel really good in the hand. This will come in handy when you're working in a tight space, need to smack something, but just don't have the room to draw back.
