I'm not super particular about whether my work aprons are cross back or not, but I definitely prefer some sort of snap/clasp closure on them. When you're working on a busy line and finally catch a break to run to the restroom or pop outside for a smoke, it's nice to not have to fiddle around with a tangled apron string. The quick release clasp on hudson aprons really is ideal for work. The material is very soft right out of the box, but it gets even softer over time. I bought a few of these aprons to replace some of my old stained ones for days when I need to appear a bit more professional, but my 6 year old hudson, while dirty, is still holding up as well as it did on day one. There are ample pockets for all of your tools, as well as a loop for your towel. The only downside to these aprons for me, as a smaller person, is that once you tighten the apron strings to fit your waist, there is a lot of leftover material that just kind of dangles behind you. You could double wrap it around your waist to mitigate this, but since health inspectors don't love the ends of apron strings potentially falling into food, I tend to just trim this excess off.

HIGHLY recommend this apron. I cook 3 meals a day, 7 days a week for my family of 5. PLUS my youngest son is in college for culinary arts - he loves this apron as well ! And he’s PICKY :D The belting system cris crosses in the back and keeps the apron in place no matter WHAT you are doing in the kitchen! I’ve always struggled w/ tradtitional aprons - they are always shifting to one side. NOT THIS ONE! It’s comforable and neutral (I favor the gray option) and washes in cold water, low heat. I can carry my phone w/ me at all times, never have to hunt for it any more! Heck I could carry 4 or 5 or 6 phones ! Plus a pen or thermometer pocket! Just get it - you’ll love it !!~!

By and large, this is a well-made apron, and appears like it will last a long time. The fabric is heavy, and should stand up to repeated use for a long time.Two things holding it back from 5 stars: the straps are *very* long (which may be a pro for others), but after tightening, the straps dangle at or below my knees; this can probably be altered pretty easily, but something to be aware of. The second is beware of the "burgundy" color. I initially ordered this apron, but received what was essentially a hot pink apron, as opposed to the deeper color shown online. I returned this and opted for the light gray, which looks great.

Had this a few months now, it's been washed a couple of times. It's well made, comforable and very functional.

OK, guys, fellow cooks and kitchen magicians, let's get this straight right now: This is NOT "an apron," it is a "MANPRON" and there is likely no good lady in your life who will want to borrow it! LOL, it's just way masculine designed, and looks, feels, behaves like the good stuff I buy from my favorite "man-stores" which begin with "C" and "D" for those in the know!!! I love this thing...robust material, unique design, all sorts of "hi-lo" pockets, etc., to put stuff in (even a side loop to hang something from)...and even has a slot pocket for a pen or pencil! Wow, THAT is thoughtful. I'd darn well wear this to the market, then straight to the kitchen for cooking...LOL. I'm a shorty "bear," 5'6" and 175#, but the straps and the way it fits is so flexible that I think it would fit anyone, and it STAYS in place because the straps from the front cross over the shoulder, then across the back (straps held in place by a very clever bit of leather "X-guide"), down to the waist and connect at the small of the back with a secure plastic BUCKLE with the adjustable straps to make sure it holds in place no matter how tight or loose you prefer...no need to "tie a knot"! You might even have to spend a minute or two to figure it out (I did) because I have never seen anything like it; VERY well thought out!!! It's a heavy denim type fabric, sewed strongly for durability. I got the grey color...nice and "business-like;" and no frivolous decorations, words, silly sayings, etc., on it. It ought to wash well, and soften a little (it's a bit like a new pair of jeans right now...) with proper care. A personal hint: do NOT use fabric softener on this as it reduces/eliminates the ability of the fabric to absorb liquid/s; bad for the cooking business! Guys, cooks...get one of these, and YAY-shoutout to the single Dad who makes these! My vote: 5 stars!
